I have long since come to the conclusion that there isn't anywhere near enough veggie oil for everybody to use in large percentages and adding 2 to 5 % to the diesel tank does not require it to be converted to biodiesel, saving lots of energy and methanol and also eliminating the glycerine...

Be fair to the tires, just changing them to radials may not help that much. Also traction is directly proportional to the load on the tires...add cargo. If you really need to drive in the snow and on ice, install chains, they are not outdated.

There is a pressure relief valve on one of the air tanks, it may be frozen in the open position. Water may have been a factor and expansion during the freeze may have opened it. Heat it by grabbing it with your bare hand to warm it up..... An alcohol evaporator should help prevent this kind of...

There is always a small amount of engine braking power in the diesel, not much, but you have to keep the engine rpm as high as possible, since there is a multiplier effect. This is why you must keep the road speed low when going downhill. Some long hills have speed limits going down (for trucks)...
