The new drop-down menues don't work, my puter is missing a module somewhere and I'm wondering if a kind soul could provide me with an old-fashioned link to it, please.

If the batteries are poorly charged and the alternator/generator is charging at a high rate, disconnecting the cable will create a so called "load dump", a high voltage spike, which lasts for several milliseconds (an eternety for electronic devices). This 50 to 150 volt spike can easily destroy...
Nice haul Devin! Congrats on being back in the "deuce crowd", bet the power steering helped manuevering by your house...kind of a tight spot with a few more cars parked there.. :-)
Relace the bad batteries.
Don't jump a 24 volt system with 12 volts, the minimum needed on your starting motor is 20 volts or you'll burn up the motor....
Beautiful attention to detail! Good to see that you have such a great outlet for your fabrication skills, every system turns into a project.

If the battery voltage drops below 20 volts while cranking, don't continue, you risk burning up your starter.
The engine needs to rev about 200 rpm to...

Thanks

"Found a reference to the alloy for the 260 series 5-ton winch (5315-00-209-7979), it is the 2017, probably -T4 temper, which has a shear strength of 38,000 psi.
It's a start... "
