I registered my Deuce, a 1969 Kaiser Jeep W/W in Georgia with the value I paid GL, which was $2500.00. I didn't have to pay sales tax when I picked it up. I just renewed my registration for 2011 last week. My Georgia tag fee is $25.00 and the taxes are $1.11 so I pay an annual total of $26.11...
I would not recommend having a Deuce insured for the minimum State-required amount. A Deuce is a VERY heavy truck and can do a lot of damage or easily total a very expensive car and injure people or worse. I insure mine for $100K/$300K bodily injury and $50K for property damage with State Farm...
I replaced my seals at NAPA also. It's best to take your old one with you as NAPA had an assortment of sizes available. NAPA only had black, but color coding might be a good thing.
I took the Deuce out to do some work today. I had two oak trees that I needed to take down that were leaning over the house. I hooked up the winch and put tension on the trees in the direction I wanted to drop them. The winch worked like a champ. I put tension on the trees with the winch...
I'm the same way. I like to search the TMs in digital form for key words, but I like a printed manual to actually 'use'. Put the TM on a CD and have it printed and put in a 3-ring binder. I do that with all my TMs, so you get the best of both worlds.
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! You'll get a lot of support here. I'm in Hiawassee, GA about 1/2 mile from the Western North Carolina line. Where in NC are you located. I looked at mapquest and discovered that there are six different cities named Concord in NC.
Whatever you do, don't force it. Find out what's wrong and fix it. You may bend or break a shift fork if you force it. I never have trouble downshifting into 4th on my Deuce and I'm now on my second transmission (lost 5th gear). I agree with Barrman - check the lube first. I use GL-1 in...
I picked up an M116A2 trailer last year. They had no such requirements for trailers at that time, but I don't know about now. However, it did take me about an hour to get through security, so make sure you arrive early enough. It would be a bummer to miss your narrow window and have to come...
Good News! Nothing nefarious at hand! The Towns County DMV and Gilmer County DMV worked together and my trailer is now registered in my name with the proper VIN#. They wouldn't tell me the other person's name, but he had a trailer with the same S/N. They contacted the State of Georgia and...
I would recommend taking an air compressor in case you have a flat tire. Once you start pulling it, pull over after 5 or 10 miles and feel the hubs to see if there is any heat build up which would indicate a problem. Warm is ok, hot is not. Depending on what you are pulling it with, you will...
