I like the magnetic mounts because they can be easily removed. The ones I use are very well made, with a strong magnet, plastic coated so that it doesn't mar the finish. I got them from Windswept Promotions at Licence Plate Holders - Promote Your Dealership . I went through some poorly made...
I wouldn't use steel - it is asking for trouble. Sometimes it's difficult to tell how much strain there is even when being careful. I have also heard of some of the aluminum shear pins being made of the incorrect alloy, which is softer. Perhaps this is why some aluminum pins are shearing...
I think he's OK regarding counterfeit plates, as long as he has a real SC plate displayed on the rear. Could be a different story if he enters a state that does have front plates, but I think he could explain his way out of it.
I live in Georgia, which also doesn't have front plates, but I...
I saw five of them at Camp Lejeune on the GL lot several months ago. They had USMC markings on them, and were brand new, not a scratch on them. The GL guy had no idea what was going to happen to them as they had recently arrived on the lot. Unless there is a specific need for a 419, I would...
I use John Deere Plus 50 oil which is 0W - 40W synthetic base. I use it in my Deuce and my two John Deere tractors. I'm very satisfied. You should do a search, there is a lot of information posted on SS on this topic.
On 24 VDC the current will drop to half what 12 VDC will need. This also means that you can get by with smaller gauge cables to the winch. A friend of mine ran a Warn winch on 24 VDC for years without problems on an M37. He also minimized the duration of pulls, although I don't know if this...
I have an MEP-003A genset and I have never had the main breaker trip, even with large loads. I have an air compressor with a 5 hp motor and it starts fine without tripping the breaker.
During my time in the Army (1970-71) I drove a Deuce. I never saw a winch on a Deuce with a level wind. For that matter, I never saw a rear-mounted winch on a Deuce either.
For those veterans or active service members in GA, you can simply take a copy of your military license in when you take the written test for either a Class A/B or Class A /B CDL and you are exempted from taking the road test, as long as the military license covers the appropriate truck...
I have used a magnetic heater on mine by wedging a wood block under the heater, which presses the heater against the oil pan, so I don't need the magnet on the heater. However, I normally don't use the heatere for my MEP-003A. Even when very cold, if I heat the glow plugs properly, it starts...
I purchased a block heater for my Deuce. It didn't seem to make much difference - it always starts easy, but I believe it is easier on the engine if the oil is warmer. The high compression makes starting Deuces easy when it's cold, if everything is correct. Although I'm in Georgia, I'm in the...
Assuming the front end is not worn out, I would take it to a front end shop and get them to spin the wheels while on the vehicle. It could be a bent wheel, bad tire, etc. I had an old Chevy truck that did really bad, starting at about 30 MPH. It turned out to be a bad tire. Looking at the...
That tow bar will come in handy. If your truck runs, I would recommend driving it. If I remember correctly from another post, your truck isn't that far from you. The most important thing is the brakes if you drive it. Good luck.
I got one from Saturn Surplus. You could get them to ship one to an address enroute. If it was me, I'd just drive in the daytime if possible and have one delivered to your destination.
That much blow by is not normal, if it is indeed blow by. As others have stated, check for exhaust leak first. Is it really coming from the tube? If so, I think you should check the engine compression for bad rings or worse. You cannot run it into the intake manifold if you have a turbo...
