Well, the longer you look, the more things you find wrong. I just discovered that one of the landing wheels was frozen in place, and I couldn't break it free. No problem, I drove out both pins from each end of the axle and then drove the axle out with a drift. Although the outside looked very...
My 149A2 recovery from Camp Lejeune went without a hitch, except for the long 1023 mile round trip, some of which was caused by a very long detour. The GL guys at Camp Lejeune were great. I arrived on site at about 0700 and one of the guys let me in early to hitch up my F150 to the trailer. I...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! This is a great site with a lot of resources and good people. I'm not too far from you, in Hiawassee, a little further north.
I looked at several magnetic mounts and most were junk. The ones I got are very good, won't mar the paint and won't fall off. I've been using them for about a year now without problems. I bought them off the internet - I'll see if I can find the supplier.
The correct spelling is Hagglund. This is a Swedish articulated military vehicle that is fully amphibious and a fantastic vehicle with a large load capacity. Goes just about anywhere. Check out http://www.arctictracks.com/main.html
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! I would also check the axel vents or perhaps even replace them. If you do replace them check the new ones to make sure they aren't stuck.
I would also recommend using a different font color - your posts are difficult to read.
I hope you got his name and contact information. He is undoubtedly full of information on the history of the vehicle, or at least in the later years. You are in an enviable situation having not only identified, but talked to the guy. He might even know earlier drivers.
As far as the license...
That's probably not bad advice. That would most likely be a lot easier than moving the lunette back and forth by hand like I did. One note: Moving the lunette got much easier after several cycles and I did lubricate prior.
I just bled the brakes on my M116A2 trailer, which is identical with the M101A2 surge brakes. I know the TM says to pump the lever to bleed the brakes. I found that holding the spring up from the lever and moving the lunette in and out worked much better. I had to replace brake lines, so mine...
Make sure you only let the starter spin for a few seconds. An unloaded starter motor can develop some very high RPMs and throw the windings out due to centrifugal force. Ask me how I know this - - - -!!!
I'm waiting on the EUC to clear. I'll be pulling the trailer with a Ford pickup. If I use my Deuce, it is a 1,000 mile round trip. I recovered my M105A2 with the same truck last year and had zero problems, but the M105A2 was a 1968 did not have the dual air lines. I thought the M149A2 brakes...
Very sorry to hear about the crack in the engine block. As I see it, you have three alternatives.
1. Replace the engine in your truck
2. Buy another truck and sell the old truck as a truck with bad engine
2. Buy another truck and part the first truck out
I don't know the overall condition...
I need to move an M149A2 water buffalo about 500 miles with no air line hookups. I have checked TM 9-2330-267-14&P and searched Resources and haven't found an answer to my question. If I bleed the air from the trailer tank, will the brakes be released? This trailer was manufactured in 2000, so...
