Thanks for all your advise!
We tried the grease pumping method in Oklahoma and it didn't work.
Removed the cross today and enlarged the freeze plug hole for a ram. No shop hydraulics available, so I'll try a BFH later.
As far as penetrants, I have used CLP, GM heat valve lube, PB blaster off and...
The tubing comes in a coil, I simply tightened it. You are looking at 15-20 ft of 1/2 o.d. tubing.
The bulkhead connectors were part of a pair of glad hand fittings from a parts M52.
The assembly was pressure tested with compressed air.
Inside the tank, it surrounds the fuel pump.
It's a hobby. Time isn't the same as money, better than watching TV. I think I can find a "new" one from a parts truck anyway. Meanwhile I'd like to know what happened to this one.
The clarity of the biodiesel is also as a result of letting it sit for a longer period of time. It turns out that the pH value drops from a caustic 8 or 9 after one day to close to a neutral 7 after a couple of weeks. It shows that the process continus. It's better aged. :-) Perhaps even an...
RE: New Hot Weather Tests on Electric Cooling Fan
Make sure you have enough alternator capacity for some of those fans, they need a lot, 25 amps won't do it.....
Did use the crane exactly like you suggested, but some unhealthy movements resulted near the crane mount, that's why I did the tree thing in image above. May try the dual chain method next.
The avatar to the left here shows how much trouble we had removing the drive shaft before the trip. We...
The freezing part may be difficult unless I can find some dry ice...
Yeah, two chains on each end is a good idea to make a straight pull.
BTW, this frozen drive shaft is probably the reason I have a leak in one of the thru shaft seals where it was installed between the two rear axles. Must have...
I know the store, they carry a lot of collectables, WW2 stuff and radios..pretty pricy, but nice stuff. They always seem willing to bargain.
Good luck!
Lol, yeah, but I'll need some 50 to complete the wiring on the 8x8 and different sizes too. Don't understand why they are so hard to find...
Thanks guys for thinking of me.
Edit: Just noticed the torn open box! That looks great, send me the bill. :-)
Looks like it's enough for everybody.
Did that, cooked it for 12 hrs in hot (235°F) oil. Didn't help one bit. As you know it did work for the steering ball joints, but this is obviously not the same kind of problem.
I put the drive shaft on the work bench and started to prep it for the operation when I got cold feet, just couldn't make myself cut it open...such a nice piece of hardware.
The truck came without a fuel tank, so starting from scratch, I'm using an M52 steel tank and it gets the full treatment including coolant heating and temperature sensors.
Working on the heating coil install today, it's "screwed" in and there is only a minor adjustment left to do so that it...
