I used the Fluke DVM at first because I had all parts on hand, but after installing the dial pyrometer it was obvious that the needle movement averaged the reading. The peaks are still there, but don't show up.
Do your own. Just drill and tap the drain plug. Did one of mine last week.
Footnote: I played around with the oil pump from a parts MF engine the other day and the gears do not act as a perfect check valve, they will let oil pass thru at a slow rate, so the prelube pump will have to fight this...
RE: running one now...
The beauty about the bypass filter is that there is no limit to the micron size, even if it eventually gets clogged up it won't upset the regular filtering system and all oil will get filtered, it just takes longer.
I have a punch and selftapping hollow bolt coming for...
Painting leaf springs is okay, lubing is not. Leaf springs have a damping factor as a result of the friction between the leaves, that's one reason there are no shocks in the rear on the deuce.
Fewer leaves means less damping and shocks need to be added.
RE: M35A2 - which radio used - where to install radio anten
Take a look at TB 11-5820-890-20-8, Technical Manual section (left column this site).
FWIW, below is an image of my beginning installation. The radio mount is not visible but is below the seat and the intercom on the wall behind the...
If you live in the mountains and haul heavy cargo, an exhaust brake is a great safety feature. During my cross country trip, the exhaust brake let me drive 45-50 mph for miles on end on 5-7% down grades in the Rocky Mountains, with very litle use of the service brakes. My total weight with...
If you have a two tank system, run 100% diesel in the start-up/shut-down tank with a small amount of VO for lubricity.
For a single tank system, run up to 20% WVO with your regular diesel.
If the oil does not come straight from the fryer, it may be contaminated with water, cleansers etc and...
Patrick, how tight are your bearings, does the right one get warmer than the left one?
Jack up one wheel at a time and check resistance to rotation, brake shoe adjustment?
The drive shaft between the two rear axles is frozen solid. The avatar on the left here shows our efforts to remove it before the truck was towed home to Virginia last Fall.
I have tried heat, hammer blows, penetrants and today I hooked it up between a tree and the deuce to try to pull it apart...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Found boarding ladders for $35
FedEx may take the ladder with nothing but a label, they delivered an exhaust system to me for a deuce a few years ago with the label only right on the pipe. I have also shipped a medium towbar that way.
Just call in the weight and...
If you get the WVO directly from the fryer, it will contain little or no hydrogenated oil. Reading the label of soybean fryer oil, it does have some preservatives added, that's all.
Properly filtered, you can mix it straight with regular diesel, probably up to 20% without any problems with...
