    Multifuel engine life

An anonymous post, ha!, and filled with false and biased information, this really gets me, I wasn't going to respond, but my brain works while I'm asleep, so for good or worse...It sounds like the Macks and the Cummins are the revered ones or the "Cats", we are trying to save the reputation of a...

    Danger sticker on tach

Thanks Maccus, guess I should have checked the TM's, it should be mentioned somewhere if they were there from "day one" so to speak. As usual, you have to know what to look for to find it. :-)

    Anti corrosive battery terminal

From the ad (Jason's link), "Electrical conductivity of this solid brass unit is almost 400% greater than that of lead clamps." Problem is, the surface area provided by the brass set screws is only about 1/5th that of the lead clamp....maybe even less.

Heading out to get the M817

They have a rough couple of hundred miles through the mountains of WV, hope the engine trouble doesn't get worse, Cummins, right?

    Danger sticker on tach

Re: RE: Danger sticker on tach The year of the truck doesn't help, the sticker could have been added later as you just proved. :-) Tom, we are still waiting for TM references to back up your statements, please....

    Danger sticker on tach

Anybody know when this decal was introduced? Thanks,

    Multifuel engine life

Any references for this Tom? According to my experiences, I have no reason to think that the TM maximums are for short time use only. Commercial engines may be rated much higher in output, but only for short intervals, the Multifuel has no such de-rating and can run forever and a day at maximum...

    Bingo!

Old mechanic's trick, used it myself a few times on an old Blazer. The starter solenoid was bad and had to be replaced. The hammer thing didn't go over to well with my wife. :-)

Heading out to get the M817

Don't know your route, but if you come up on I-77, it's very foggy this morning as you get into Virginia, Fancy Gap area in particular....

Heading out to get the M817

Looks like you have a tight schedule. FWIW, I'm on the way, sort of, 20 miles East from the Hillsville/Galax/Hwy 58 exit of I-77 in Virginia. In any case, you are both welcome to stop by....there is always the 8x8 to check out. :-) And yes, you may spend the night, I think dinner tomorrow is...

    M819/M246 Ops Questions

This is still a standing question. I'm investigating hydraulic fluid, which has anti-wear properties, but have trouble finding 10-weight. The closest so far is AW 22 LT, which has about the same viscosity as 10 weight engine oil. The same fluid will be used in my Allison automatic....

    M52 fuel tank vent wanted

Knucklehead has offered to send me one. Thanks everybody!

    m-621 project dash photos

Got parts from a 1970 M50A3 (water tanker) last year, so why not "A6", specific mods to a vehicle configuration, David Doyle can explain. :-)

    M270A1 Worst pickup story ever?

Was that tire a recap? The inner tube and pwr steering must have helped keeping things under control.... Congrats on a nice trailer. Patrick, you still have duals, shouldn't need any more "spares".

    Losing coolant

That's normal. At idle, you probably never reach op temp of 180F. Even driving, when you get to a long downhill run, the temp will drop as much as 20 to 30 degrees. It's not difficult to remove the radiator, just take it one step at a time. Flush it clear of debris and check the lower rad hose...

    M52 fuel tank vent wanted

Here is a test setup for the heater configured to heat the coolant. The exhaust would normally heat the oil pan. Should be interesting.

Ken, the attachement to the exhaust is the crankcase breather termination, part of the under water running feature.

    Multifuel engine life

A bit hard to get to, but I'll give it a better try another time. The turbine looks smaller than the "C" on a deuce, but is offset and the compressor is larger....

    M52 fuel tank vent wanted

Hmm...I'm not really interested in the vent itself, just the plate to fit the opening in the tank with the sucktion tube. The tank is vented elsewhere. It will be for the small fuel pump that supplies fuel to the fuel burning personnel heater.
