M923A2 came home with me today!

Chris, quick question, how long does it take to air down and air up? I would think that to air up from say 10 psi to 60 psi could take some 20 minutes or more based on the compressor capacity, is that close? Thanks,

    5 Ton Power Steering Question

RE: Re: RE: 5 Ton Power Steering Question My jury is still out on this one. :-) There was a multi issue article on oils in the MVM a few years ago, I got some reading to do....

    leaking flame starter

RE: Re: RE: leaking flame starter I'm thinking Sparky's is leaking into the intake manifold, which is not a good thing.

    leaking flame starter

The skinny one is supply. Most likely the return line is leaking fuel from the general return hoses. You can plug everything without a problem.

Fuel pump question on my 2 1/2

RE: Re: Fuel pump question on my 2 1/2 If you are running loaded, there is a definite loss of power when the in-tank pump dies, been there done that sort of thing. Hmm..wonder what the return flow is without the in-tank pump, it's about 2 qts/minute when it's running and the engine is at...

    5 Ton Power Steering Question

Re: RE: 5 Ton Power Steering Question Ref Transmission fluid: For one thing, conflicting info from the manuals. The TM -10 calls for OE 10W, the LO calls for OE (could be 30, could be 10) and the Transmission TM calls for Transmission fluid type C2 (see attached). In addition the newer...

Fuel pump question on my 2 1/2

Bypassing the FDC will give you more fuel, too much for the N/A multi and the black smoke will result. A turbo will solve your problem. Of course you can always turn down the fuel by turning the adjusting nut on the FDC counter clockwise ? (need to check on the direction to be sure...). The...

    5 Ton Power Steering Question

I'm in a similar situation, got five gallons of ATF (Dexron) on the shelf now for the xm757, but am having second thoughts about replacing the Allison transmission fluid with it. The LO calls for 10W motor oil (OE 10) and that's what's in the transmission now from the looks of it. I have mixed...

    Injector Cap Woes

I'm sending him one injector tomorrow. It looks good enough to install without worrying about the threads etc.

    U-joint phasing

Found this in the TM 9-2320-209-20 (1965). The u-joints are not phased correctly.

    The Beast emerges

The airhorn came later as did the bumper mounted light clusters. I put the lights back where they were designed to be, never liked the idea of bumper mounted lights. :-) Okay, so the bumper creates an un-illuminated area right in front or the truck, the lights really should have been mounted a...

Right, it's only a 1:1 with front drive disable for highway use. Aluminum case. Air operated.

    The Beast emerges

Yeah Mike, I'm happily surprised at how consistent and hard the finish is. Aervoe does advertise the color as "new". Also, it is pretty near a perfect match with the original (1969).

    HELP ME! I'm going MAD!

RE: HELP ME! I My guess is that he is still talking about an automatic, just without the electronic control gizmos. BTW, an automatic is preferred offroad by some for smoother operation. The 6-speed Allison auto in the xm757 has very small increments (about 1.4:1) and the 2-speed transfer was...

    The Beast emerges

Here is the rear end. The primer is Rustoleum "Rusty metal primer" and the paint is Aervoe 997B (24084) semigloss OD. Since I only do a small part at a time the rattle can method is satisfactory. I figure, if applied according to all the rules of the art, a one-time top coat can be sprayed on...

    Injector Cap Woes

I have extra injectors, do you want one with an elbow or tee return line fitting? They are for the LD, LDT series engines.
