Little by little, more gets done on the XM757. Worked on the fuel lines today.
Here are some views showing the front portion of the 8x8 truck before and now.
The "7" may seem low for an 8 ton vehicle (empty), perhaps it has something to do with load distribution over 4 axles...
The spare tire is moved to the platform behind the cab to make space for the filter and future electronics.
Still neeed a couple of fittings and hardware to complete.
Don't forget the search the PS Magazine section for answers:

RE: Re: Cummins 250?
So it's based on current needed for cold weather cranking. Makes sense. The upgrade to a 4-back on the XM757 must have applied to the Pershing missile only, no reference shows it needed for the other versions of the 8x8 trucks.
Guess they can get away with dual batt...
I started a separate thread on this a couple of weeks ago and didn't get a satisfactory answer, but how do you tell the quality, and place of origin?
Got one from Memphis some time ago and it smells and feels good, but isn't marked like the original. The original is marked "TOP" among other...
Based on the return flow to the tank (about 2 to 3 qts/min) and the rate of fuel used at full power (about 62 lb/hr from the TM), the flow rate through the filters is about 50 gallons/hour.
If you suspect water in the fuel, let it sit in a barrel for a week or so and don't use the bottom...

I think it's a good idea, I'm installing this Racor filter in the XM757, which will have a dual heated fuel tank system when done.
Don't see any problem with an in-tank pump pushing the fuel as opposed to "sucking" the fuel through it.
The Racor model is 1000FG. BTW, the filter elements are...
Re: RE: Dual vs quad battery packs
Yes there were, a separate slave cable kit was provided, but the dual battery set remained the same. May have been a factor later, the TM's from the period all show the dual battery pack with or without the Pershing kit.
I'm still looking for these, 15 to 30 amps, a couple, but am not prepared to pay the exorberent prices asked by most dealers and on ebay.
Thanks again for your help!
Thanks, keep it coming, of course we know the multifuels start immediately, if not sooner, still they added two batteries to the original two on the M656/XM757 trucks.
Some solid arguments for the 4-pack battery systems, please.
My XM757 originally came from factory with a dual battery system (besides the fact that it it's a Ford, engineering figured that two batteries were enough), but a field mod later turned it into a 4-pack.
Why are four...
RE: it
The buzzer is supposed to be a warning and is just fine for a failure during operation of the vehicle, kind of scares the heck out of you, though when it happens, been there done that kind of thing. Worked in the woods and backed into a tree stump, which tore the emergency glad hand...
