Bjorn, don't know how much room you have below the filter when mounted, but, I pop a hole in the bottom of the filter, let it drain then take it off. It's no to messy that way.
On some of the newer small engines we are seeing at work, we sometimes come across a filter that we don't have a wrench for. I never even thought about diong it like that! I tell the apprentices at the shop,"don't say you know everything, 'cause you learn something new every day"...... SEE...
Maybe there was a bad batch, or they are past their shelf life exp. date
clinto, wonder why Jay asked for your wrench back? He didn't ask for mine. Maybe 'cause i'm way out on the left coast.
Swervin, Welcome! If you are gonna get a truck from GL, there is usually a phone number listed for the DRMO custodian where the truck is. Call and make an appointment to look at it. The man at the DRMO my buddy got his truck from was very friendly and didn't really care what we did. He even let...
RE: Bearing sets
Ryan, you can safely drop all but two mains at one time, pull the uppers out, clean the caps and bolts, put them back up, then do the other two. The crank won't fall out, remember, it's got the front cover/seal and the rear seal carrier and flywheel housing still up, but, if...
Those are the ones from the injector return lines, huh? I think I found some, but they are stainless, too hard for the plastic line. When/if you find some, please do let us know, I am in need of a few too.
On occasion, I have heard mine make a kind of PPFFFRRRTTT sound, guess thats the gas passing! I put a piece of hose off of the pipe to just above the diff housing. So far, only a few drops on the axle, but, after a long hard run, there is a bit of vapor. If you choose to run the tube to the rear...
Most Caterpillar service places have analisys on premisis, and i think Flying J has them too and places called Speedco, they're usually built next to truck stops.
Bjorn, take the radiator cap off, see if there is what looks like little globs of grey pudding on the rubber. Maybe you have a head gasket going away too.
Correct Jon! Remember, that thing under the hood makes lots of heat. The oil has a tendency to get hot too and all those pistons and rods flying around in there make wind. It's gotta go somewhere and it usually takes the vaporized oil out with it. Unless you are loosing quarts of oil after a...
High lead, that's not good. The bearings must not be lead/tin, maybe a zinc overlay? Looks like the phosphorus and calcium are high too. These usually are high along with silicon if there is coolant in the oil. Does your bio have water in when you make it? Are you running plain water with a DCA...
