RE: illustrated how to swap crankshaft balancers. (with pic Which one is the better of the two? Mine has the one on the left. It's built like it has a shield of sorts to cover the rubber between the inner and outer rings. BTW, nice narritive and pics. Looks like it was pretty easy.

    antifreeze in oil

RE: Coolant Leak Where did you get it? Maybe it's one of those engines that had a problem, was disassembled, found it unfeasible to repair, and just slammed together then swapped with a depot rebuild? How was the oil pressure?

    Engine compression..or lack thereof

You can use the pressure recomended above to see if it's a leaking valve too. If it's the center two, 3 & 4 cyls., it could be a blown head gasket. If you use the pressure method and the gasket is blown, you'll hear the air comming out the other cylinder. Good luck, keep us posted.

    Gasser lifter noise

If the tick comes and goes, it could be a worn lifter. I had a 454 wear 1/2 of the lifter once, only made the noise when it was on the worn part.

    Horn Valve needed

It's just a plunger type valve. If the little rubber dot isn't damaged, you can take it apart, clean and lube the plunger and bore, and put it back together and it will be fine.
