Which one is the better of the two? Mine has the one on the left. It's built like it has a shield of sorts to cover the rubber between the inner and outer rings. BTW, nice narritive and pics. Looks like it was pretty easy.

Where did you get it? Maybe it's one of those engines that had a problem, was disassembled, found it unfeasible to repair, and just slammed together then swapped with a depot rebuild? How was the oil pressure?

Woops, heads gotta come off! Look down the push tube cavity, the nut, washer and what's left of the stud will most likely be there. How long did it run likr that?
You can use the pressure recomended above to see if it's a leaking valve too. If it's the center two, 3 & 4 cyls., it could be a blown head gasket. If you use the pressure method and the gasket is blown, you'll hear the air comming out the other cylinder. Good luck, keep us posted.
Use an 18 in crescent on the back side of the compressor pulley and push down on the compressor belt at the same time you turn it, if you are by yourself..or, if you have a helper, ditto what clinto said.
It's just a plunger type valve. If the little rubber dot isn't damaged, you can take it apart, clean and lube the plunger and bore, and put it back together and it will be fine.
E-bay store...Austin Avaition. He has all kindsa of stuff. There is 40 or so pages with multiple listings for the same thing and with different prices. Look thru them all! I think Saturn might have them too.

I just used the same Aervoe earth brown I used on the truck. Seems to hold up good. Onlyturns a little lighter on the outlet of the pipe. I just squirt it again and it's good to go. Lasts 6 mos or so with every other day driving.
