Wouldn't be difficult to do a gooseneck. My concern would be the height of the ball from the ground. My truck is singled out, rolling on 395's. The deck of the bed is better than 4' off the gruond. Bed sides add about another 2 feet to that. I can't recall having ever seen a gooseneck with...
I used a 105 bed on my never will be bobbed crew cab. I can fit a couple of round bales in the bed easily. Been good for dirt, gravel, the neighbors kids. I put the original bed on our xm818 a few weeks back. For when I need more room & i don't wanna haul the trailer around.
The cab on a 809 series 5ton is the same as a deuce. The newer 900's have a different cab.
I used the cab off of a 813 for the donor cab on my crew cab.
I've got two trucks to bring & only one driver. I'm not trusting my brakes enough right now to tow bar one. Is it possible to bring one down Thursday? Late afternoon, probably get there around 6 ish.
Found some other stuff.
NOS vinyl end curtain for a cargo bed. Will work on a deuce or 5ton. I've got 2 & will take $40 for the pair.
Used starter off of a 465. Can't remember if it was a LDT or LDS. $200 obo
Windshield frame. Glass is trash, but the frame is good. No idea what it's worth...
I've got a new spring seat. No rips, tares, cuts, or any other unsightly blemishes. Still has the global sticker on the back. $ 250 or trade for soft top, electrical control box (m809 series 5ton), cab heater.
So a couple years back I bought one of those in cab weapons racks. The ones that come with a double that mounts on the dash & the one that's supposed to mount on the door. Long since put the double in the deuce & never used the door one. I'm wanting to use the door mount in the 818, but I've...
I like the 809's too. Would love to get an 813 someday. I'd like to get the motor & trany out of a 923a2 or a3 to put in this one. Try as i may, my wife just can't deal with a standard transmission
My XM818 mods & questions
Been done before, but this one is mine. So I'll share. Did a crew cab conversion a year or so ago on our deuce. Had the bed left over bed sitting around taking up space since. My ex-wife killed my goal of a small company with our XM818 for the next several years with...
I didn't see a stuff for sale at the rally thread. So for those interested, I've got around 20 9.00x20 NDT mounted on stock deuce wheels. Various conditions, but last I checked they hold air. $25 a piece. Got one 11.00x20 on an old 5-ton split rim, same price. Get them for the wheels if nothing...
This is how I'd do the bed if I were to use a 105 bed. It's what I came up with for the crew cab conversion on our deuce. It worked off road pertty well at the KAMO rally. The tires would rub some just shy of the bump stops. I'm not sure if that would hold true with the larger 14.00's though.
The dolly is strictly for moving stuff around my yard. Would never see pavement. It's not worth a lawsuit. And i thought you had problems with getting that bed off and on. Looks to sit mighty high.
I like the looks of the 105 beds & if I were to use one I'd do the sides like on the crew cab I built ( which I can't get the pics to upload from the phone ). But I'm loath to sacrifice my last 105 trailer for this. At least I'd be able to use my cargo cover on the deuce bed.
I'd love a drop...
I've been thinking about putting a bed on our 818. The lack of cargo capacity without pulling a trailer is bugging the snot out of me. After looking at about 10 pages of threads on it, I'd like to get current opinions. Benefits of a full size deuce bed over a cut down bed, deuce bed over a m105...
