You can also use two 12 volt converters in series to get 24 volt. Just make sure the housings (if metal) are insulated from each other.
I've seen 12 volt units real cheap at flea markets & garage sales.
One of my uncles flew bombers in WWII Europe, the Korean War, and in VietNam.
Once, when he was home on leave, he took me for a ride in a rickety old 2-seat plane. We had to land often just to add oil to the engine & clean oil off the windows.

As I get a chance I'm switching everything to spin -ons. So much easier, & a good bet when running a lot of UMO as fuel.
I stand corrected on the "salt water" issue.
I based my statement on my experiences in VietNam. I never saw an Amphib unit, just Mobile Construction Battalions & Construction Battalion Maintenance Units.
Seabee trucks
Actually, very few Seabees or their trucks ever get in salt water.
Trucks will frequently be transported by ship, but Seabees generally fly to their destination. Way too important to spend all that time at sea. :grin:

I have a set of Deuce hubs machined ten thousandths over spline OD. No bushings. I've run them a few hundred miles with no problems.
