I put some hard miles on an M35 gasser in Vietnam. Only used 1st gear when starting-out uphill or with a really heavy load.
I treat my M35A2s the same way now.
Never even heard of a trans problem attributed to this.
The common Deuce hot water heater is mounted under the hood. Gets in the way, and pulls in outside air. My "arctic" Deuce came with the heater mounted inside the cab & under the dash on the passenger side. It heats & recirculates cab air. I drove 500 or so miles in a T shirt, in 20 degree...
One of my trucks has the steel "riot" box on it.
If I were building it from scratch, or had the ambition to modify mine, I would add an insulated bed over the cab, like most class C motorhomes.
This would free up a lot of floorspace.
I'm still having same problems. Rough idle & hard to start.
Checked all fittings, rechecked filter gasket.
I have a small Mightyvac I've used for brake bleeding & vacuum testing. I guess I'll try it on the fuel line & see if I'm sucking air in from somewhere.
Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be a lot of members saying they're in "Port Huron Michigan"?

I've been very pleased with the help & service I've gotten from the NAPA/Ridge Auto Parts stores in the South Bend/Elkhart Indiana area. Very professional.
The manager at the Plymouth Indiana store is great too.
The location of the hole makes a big difference! If it's near the tank you may want to use something hotter than propane, maybe MAPP gas or oxy/acetylene. That way you can heat the affected area more quickly without too much heat spreading to the tank joints.
