Does anybody have any updates on these capacitors in the charging system? Its been 10 years since the last post and wanted to check. Mine is bad and I want to put the best one in there. Thank you.

I looked them both over and I dont see anywhere to put a spring inside it to make it function like the original one. the body of the solenoid is a smaller diameter.
I did more troubleshooting and it appears my DC voltage regulator is charging the battery too high, i saw it get up to 30 volts...
I ordered a new solenoid from Drake Controls SA-2779-A and it does not have a return spring to force the plunger down to the stop position when the generator is in the off position. I am contacting them now about a return.
Here is a picture of the inside of the fuel stop solenoid. I took some of it apart so it's not 100%. But as you can see there are two breaker points in there.

I emailed Woodward and asked them to quote a new solenoid. They said that the SA-1637-24 is an obsolete solenoid and the replacement part number is SA-2779-A. EDIT: I ORDERED AN SA-2779-A AND IT WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE...
If the solenoid was "jackhammering" while installed in the generator but did fine on the bench test, then I would know that the issue is somewhere within the generator... but that isnt the case. It jackhammers in the generator as well as outside the generator on the bench. Like you said Ray...

I looked a long time ago but and I did not see anywhere in the TM where it calls out how to adjust them. I thought that they are directly part of that steering shaft and not meant to be serviced? I believe they had a lock ring on them as well.
How easy do those "tapered studs" turn in that pitman arm shaft? I had mine out a long time ago to replace the bushings and it was difficult to turn. Just wondering how others are.
