As I recall, Bjorn mentioned that by keeping it up on blocks, there was less temptation to "accept" it's current condition. I am sure it will be rolling around once it gets to the level that will not require it to go back up on blocks again.

It is also possible to use a more modern gear oil, but you must be careful... If you go with a GL-5 without the additional MT-1 performance spec, you risk blowing up your synchros. The MT-1 spec certifies that the oil will be friendly to yellow metals.

Ditto on the Walmart batteries... Mine have been used for 2 Michigan winters, always started easily no matter how cold, and with relatively short commute times. For $30 bucks apiece, they have earned their keep.

Correct, houdel... the bed is the same width as the fenders and running boards. Plus, it has wheel wells that allowed for the larger tires to have the same range of travel and articulation as the 900 tires. But the hub flip is a HUGE step in the conversion.
