Do you know how many mods that are suggested on this site that are not DOT approved? Whats one more? A switch operated tank drain should be the least of anyones concern.
Id do it if I still had a truck.
When I was in (USAF) we used what ever we had on hand. If someone was particularly proud of their vehicle or maybe it was up for a special inspection they would run to an office store and buy some "fancy" stencils. In other words, there is no hardline regulation that specifies what font to use.
Parasitic drag ( friction from the clutch and pilot bearing) will cause things to spin while the clutch is pushed in while in neutral. If your in neutral and let the clutch out ( foot off the pedal) then yes the clutch and main shaft should be spinning.
I believe it like the battle ship guns. There's one on the hill across the interstate from Ft Riley. It's got a round (welded in place of course) on the loading track. I've got a pic of it somewhere I'll see if I can dig it up.
*edit* You can see the round in the pics in post #1 of this...
Your time line is off. The OP went to that other thread and started bitching over there about being asked to post a picture rather than just posting a picture in this thread. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Notice the OP is banned. (Temporarily I believe) hopefully he will...
I wouldn't be caught dead towing one of these trucks off of Federal property without everything being done the right way. It's not like towing a broken down vehicle down the block to your neighbors garage. If your on a public road on base you better be up to standards, ie proper lighting...
Somebody please fix the title to state "truck" not "track" I was really thinking something totally different when I read the title.
mcmud, that's not a crack at you. Just a little house keeping issue that tends to drive some guys nuts.
*edit* Thank you, who ever it was.
You have to read the whole thread. Granted, the thread starts out with Hiem joints but does get around to the torque rod ends from Eriks. On the last page is a member who has installed those, and you could PM him directly and ask his opinion.
I would not rely on the vendors advice, of course...
Be prepared for the onslaught of "if you make it faster you need to upgrade the brakes too" replies. 75mph in a deuce? No thanks, they always felt like they were going to come apart at anything over 50 to me.
Its been awhile since I bobbed my truck (and its been sold for a few years now).I remembered there was some issue with using some of the 105 mounting hardware, just couldnt remember what it was. Thanks
The m116 is the chassis alone or with a flat bed attached. If it has a cargo box it is an m101 variant. Are you wanting a flat bed type trailer or a cargo box?
Looks like an M39 series 5ton. Not a deuce, the deuce grill guard is angled to the side at the headlights. The older 5tons had the flat (straight across) grill guard on the front.
