Not to change the op thread but what is the line under the dash clipped to the firewall and dead ends over on the passenger side with
A valve and cap?
Looks like a 3/8 line. I can not find it in my TM's
Thanks
Tom
Ratchet wrench for three of the bolts and a long 3/8 drive extension through the cross member from the back gets the fourth one.
Really wasn't all that bad.
If the head is rounded try a 6 point socket (which is what should be used anyway) .
Don't forget to remove the rear fitting on the MC...
She done a great job!
At 5'4 and 115lbs. my wife loves to help and drive.
Her favorite is the M37 but will move the M35 if needed.
Here she's getting ready to unwind the winch cable so we can straighten it out.
Tom
Yes I too. But this thing was spotless inside the reservoir and out.
Like I said I know I should have opened it up but it was working better and I thought it would loosen up.
I guess I should buy a kit and go from there.
Wow, I hate to do the same thing twice!
Thanks,
TGP
Ok I rebuilt the brakes on the A1 and installed a new Gov. issue NOS master Cyl.
Purchased here.
Problem is the brakes are slow to release and drag for a bit before returning to normal.
Now when I benched bled the master I noticed the piston was or seemed stuck.
Once it moved in it didn't want...
Congratulations!
Looks like a decent truck to build on.
I see the folding step on the winch bumper. I just installed one on my A1.
Seems like everything is done from the front bumper or fenders,LOL. The step makes it
A lot easier for this 60+year old guy to get up on!!
Have Fun!
Tom
Nice Find.
As others said should keep you busy for a while.
Most parts are plentiful from vendors and private sellers.
These are Great Trucks to have.
Visit G 741 site too and register it. The site is dedicated to M37 and a great bunch of folks over there.
Between there ,here and the PWA you...
I don't have a problem with retreads. Have run many on the rear over the years.
However I got away from them. In your case they might work for you for a short time.
Regardless of what the FMCSR says or how you interpret there regulation I think it would be foolish
to use them on a steer axle...
Be very careful when advancing the timing.
Best way to break a crankshaft.
The marks should be always lined up if everything is with in Spec.'s
If in doubt find a reputable mechanic who has the equipment to check the marks(timing).

Pull the dust shield with the starter bolted up, engage the starter drive into the flywheel by prying it out and check the tooth engagement clearance.
A paper clip wire is close.
If you can't get it in between the teeth add a shim. If it fits leave it alone.
There are TB's and numerous threads...
I think you better open the little door on the floor board in front
Of the Drivers seat that exposes the master cylinder and check your brake fluid.
