    Speedometer keyway

Turns out after pulling the speedo gear out, the key broke off down inside there so after getting the key out, the keyway actually looks pretty good, square and much deeper than in the picture.

    Speedometer keyway

It did turn, the pulse generator was getting a signal and then all of a sudden it wasn't. The dakota digital pulse generator threads on there and the key goes into that keyway. As it turns, it generates a signal for the controller. I guess I'll have to pull that part out of there and see what...

    Speedometer keyway

While troubleshooting an issue I've been working on, I noticed that the keyway for the speedometer key looks like the below picture. They keyway is not what I would call a well defined square profile. It almost looks rounded off. Is this how it is supposed to look? This T/C was removed from...

    Upper A-Arm bolts

I was trying to do it without removing the a-arm, the 4 bolts towards the front of the vehicle are easy to get to and I was able to get those loose pretty easy using an impact on the nuts on the inside of the frame. The rear 4 bolts are a lot harder to get to and even with the impact on the top...

    Midwest Military Equipment Gauges

Thanks, I will check them out. Just looking for a GPS speedo and gauges that would match.

    Upper A-Arm bolts

My rear tires have a bit of an inward camber to them so I thought I'd try removing some shims since I just put on some new tires. Is there a trick to getting that big bolt out? The nuts came off pretty easy but those bolts aren't budging. Any tricks you all have used? I'm about out of ideas...

    Midwest Military Equipment Gauges

Has anyone tried the gauge set from MME? They are a bit pricey on their site but just wondered if anyone had tried them and if they are as plug and play as it says. MME 6 Gauge Kit For HMMWV/ Humvee (midwestmilitaryequipment.com)

    RPM Signal for 4L80E

I think the only TPS setting is the calibration, one for idol and one at wot. I don't see anything else to change on TPS.

    RPM Signal for 4L80E

@Mogman I see you mention using a TCI controller for your 6l80. Is it the EZ-TCU? I'm asking because I'm having trouble with the settings on mine. I can get it to go into 4th but only at lower speeds. When I give it more peddle, it downshifts to 3rd and the mph reading goes down instead of...

    RPM Signal for 4L80E

Thanks mogman, that worked perfectly. Now I just have to work on settings. It's not shifting quite right.

    RPM Signal for 4L80E

Interesting. Does it matter which wire gets grounded?

    RPM Signal for 4L80E

I replacing my 6.2 with a 6.5TD in my M998 a few months ago and we just swapped in a 4L80E. I went with the EZ-TCU controller and I need an RPM signal for it. I thought I could use the RPM sensor in the front of the 6.5td but I don't seem to have a signal from either pin though the controller...

    EZ-TCU Standalone Controller

Thanks, I did reach out to him in a PM and he responded already. The guy that did the work on your truck isn't with him anymore but he did reach out and gave me a little info. I'm finding conflicting info for the geared hub ratio on a M998. If I need to add the diff and the geared hubs together...

    EZ-TCU Standalone Controller

I'm in the process of swapping in a 4L80E into my M998. I bought the EZ-TCU to be my controller. Lot's of threads of people having issues getting this set up. If you have gone through this, do you care to share your settings with those that might be doing this in the future, like me? I'm...

    Fan Troubles

Just to follow up, it did end up being the fan thermal switch. I switched it out and now my fan is coming on at 220. It does seem to shut off a little quickly at least according to my gauge. It's not even getting to 200 before it shuts off. I have a laser temp reader I'll try to check it with...

    Fan Troubles

Just a follow up on this since there were no responses, I think I'm going to try going through the diagnostics again this time with the computer out there in front of me so I don't miss anything. There has to be a step or something that I didn't test correctly.

    Fan Troubles

My fan quit working some time ago on my M998 but I'm just now getting around to troubleshoot it. Previously, it started cycling on and off quickly one or two times, then would stay on to cool. But it would come on early, somewhere around 190-195 so it was running pretty much constantly once that...

    M998 6.2 to 6.5l swap questions

Yeah, I found one for $975, ouch. Good idea though, I will post in the want classifieds.

    M998 6.2 to 6.5l swap questions

I saw somewhere in my research that you do not have to trim the doghouse area with a 2" lift which is what I installed. I hope that is the case though I have marked it just in case. I plan to do a test fit to see, then if I have to cut it, I will. Yes, I have the 60a alternator. I looked at...

    M998 6.2 to 6.5l swap questions

Hello all, I have been reading a lot of threads on this swap as many others have done it but I'm not finding anything that answers my question. I would be surprised if this hasn't been answered but I didn't come across it. First, as I mentioned I have a M998 that came with the 6.2. I bought a...
