Yes the Haldex system reverts to standard air brake operation if power is lost. I would think if it loses a sensor or has a wiring fault its going to put on the inop light on the dash and revert to non ABS operation.
Right. When you release the parking brakes it ports air to the spring brake cans which compresses the springs and disengages the brakes, so if the diaphrams are bad then that's when they are going to leak. ( no air goes to them when the parking brakes are on , they are vented to ambient and...

Just to save someone a bad experience I would not recommend a motel right outside the camp called Drus. I attempted to stay there and left after a couple hours and went into Hattiesburg and paid again for a nice hotel- comfort suites.
Is it attached to the truck anywhere other than the welds along the rear of the pintle mount? You should run your safety chains through the pintle hitch eye.
