HSFD,
I was going to say check out the impellers on the pump. Many times this is overlooked in a cooling system. I've seen many people frustrated with overheating problems due to worn out impellers and looking for more expensive solutions.
I sold a Mack 5 ton to a coal mining company a few years back. The going rate then was $10K and they didn't flinch in the least. I drove it from Oshkosh to their coal pit. It was a most enjoyable ride! Top speed was 50 mph but it was a sweet truck to drive.
Heck, I just go to Uniseal in Evansville, IN and pull up to their dock before noontime before Thursday and get a truckload of high quality automotive insulation for FREE!!!!! They dump more out in a day from mold start-ups and shut-downs than I can use in a month! BTW, when I visit I plan to...
Well, my '67 has the single piston. I could be wrong, but the tag says '66 on it. That's all I know besides seeing single piston compressors on older units like mine.
RDD,
You have the old style single piston compressor like I do. The new compressors are longer and have two pistons in them. They look different than this type.
I love that 5 ton! What a sweet truck! I'd love to have one of my own but it'll have to wait for now. The DR stable's getting very full at the moment, 5 trucks, 2 cars and a bulldozer fill up the garage quickly.
Pop,
I wish I had known sooner. Dang I could use one!!!!! No matter the back end, heck I had some projects I could have gotten done with one of those babies!!!! Oh well.
Folks,
That's Kenny showing off his Austrailain road train again :D . Kenny, did you ever fix the exhaust yet? I think I could hear you firing up the tractor from over here ;) . BTW, I'm trying to scrape up some time to get your lights back to you. I haven't forgotten............ yet.
Let's see here,
