    M1009 fuel line question

Keep in mind, electric pump should be as close to the tank as possible. Electric pumps like to push fuel, not pull fuel. This is the advantage to mechanical pumps as they will pull fuel much easier. One of the reasons companies started putting electric pumps into the fuel tank. Keeps them...

    84 m1009 cucv chevy blazer build-up

Nice upgrades! How do you like the new dash setup? I keep toying with the idea of using that.

    M1009 6.5 TD swap?

Cracks between the valves is what is most common on these heads and many consider them trashed at that point. I have heard of them being repaired by welding but not done much. If the heads are cracked, I wouldn't waste my time with them.

    Another M1010 owner

Man that looks great! I miss my H2 wheels like I had on my first M1010. They just look so right.

    Stanadyne Pump Video

Hi all, I just ran across this YouTube video using a cutaway of a Stanadyne DB2 pump. Very interesting to see how an injection pump works but also brings up the question of, who in the heck came up with this idea? Just crazy to think how this works. Hope this is helpful for folks.

    PY0 wheels on a M1008?

Correct about the plastic lug nut covers but you can buy the correct lug nuts in standard threads.

    CUCV Title/VIN

If it comes up as rendered destroyed, I doubt you will get it registered for the road. Basically that vehicle should not exist and will likely never be road legal again. I do not think you can get that changed/removed. I would likely pull the good parts off it and scrap the rest, IMHO.

Turboing a 6.2l build (another one)

Thanks for the info. Sadly in San Diego, 6.5" diesels are not very common to find so going to be hard to find an engine/donor. Banks kits are almost as bad to find plus I know there is no way it will work with the M1010 dual pass. side alts (which are larger than M1008). I am not 100% sure...

    CUCV Title/VIN

Sounds like someone swapped the VIN in the cab that had a title. Likely something with the original M1008 title or VIN was screwed up. It could have been totaled, lost title and unable to get a replacement, etc. In any case, changing the VIN tag on any vehicle is illegal in all 50 states...

Turboing a 6.2l build (another one)

That's awesome!!! I am seriously looking to do this to my M1010. I time 0-60mph with a sundial so it needs something. I have been considering doing a EFI BBC but would like to keep the diesel. Where did you get most of your parts?

    PY0 wheels on a M1008?

I had looked at those for my M1010 and decided the backspacing was too much and didn't want to deal with issues of clearance. I found a set of Ford 16x7 wheels that have 4.5" BS. These were pre Super Duty model trucks, which shared the same 8 on 6.5" pattern. Super Duty trucks went to a...

    No Power Steering

box itself could be bad. Could be a stuck internal valve in the box.

    Yeah, I miss my Cummins.....

    Weight of M1010 ambulance body

If I recall, the AC box part is 200 lbs, so if you remove that, that knocks some weight off, especially from a high point. That said, when I had to weigh my M1010 to get it registered in CA, it came out to 6300 lbs with a half tank of fuel. I used to own a '97 Cummins powered, extended cab...

    Starter bolt woes

You cannot compare the load on the starter between a gas and diesel engine. Even a rowdy SBC or BBC is likely no more than 12:1 compression, most are below 11:1. Diesels are typically 18:1 to 21:1 compression ratios. You are basically doubling the load on the starter and hence starter bolts...

    6.2/6.5 Turbo Build

I was just reading my Diesel Pages book I had bought back with my first M1010. It talks about the dual stats. Apparently the later model water pumps (like '94ish and up IIRC) had a much higher flowing water pump and needed the dual t-stats to get enough coolant flow. I guess the new pumps...

Turboing a 6.2l build (another one)

This is coming along sweet. Can't wait to see the final results and how it drives with the turbo.

My cucv burns up a glow plug every 3-4K miles

It sounds like the glow plugs are staying on too long or somehow cycling too frequently. You should easily get 50,000 miles from a set. Are you still running the wiring through the resistor bank?

    M-1009 heater hoses and thermostat

You likely have a bad sender or wiring issue. I don't think that light comes on until the 220* range. 195 is normal and I wouldn't blink much until it was in the 210+ range.
