New Member 1984 m1010 charging issue

If you find anyone interested in the heater... have them talk to me too. I have two of them I will give away. :)

New Member 1984 m1010 charging issue

Thanks for the props on the gauges. Very happy how they came out. Honestly, I would be looking to replace the batteries with higher CCA unless the ones you have are brand new. It sucks but if you need to replace one, I would replace both with the higher rated one. Sounds like you are just...

New Member 1984 m1010 charging issue

He did not say test the batteries but check the output of alternators (" testing the voltage coming into each of the batteries "). My guess is the lower alt is not putting out the right voltage/current. It should be close to 28v. When I bought my current one, it was converted to "Plan B" and...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I have been doing some different projects on my M1010. Installed some Jeep JK Wrangler seats on custom built brackets I made. Also installed a Gear Vendors OD and waiting for the driveshaft to be built. Need to wire that up. Hopefully will have that done this weekend.

This is coming out sweet! I like your rivet pattern on the bed support piece. ;)

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

yeah, some are, some are not reversible. Fingers crossed it works. I know on my '48 Chevy, moving less then 10mph, it forces enough air that is would drop my radiator temps, with the mechanical fan, even at low RPM. I converted to an electric so that is not a problem anymore. :)

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Yeah, that's your problem. If mounted in front of the radiator, you must have the fan moving air the same direction as air flows through the radiator. It needs to go from the front side to the engine side. If you are "pulling" forward, not only are you fighting airflow when you are driving...

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

So.... I don't think you have a condenser in front of the radiator unless you added it. I was surprised when I pulled the radiator and I was like "WTH?" Then I remembers, all of the condensers are up in the overhead A/C unit. That's why the A/C line run from the compressor to the box and no...

    Doghead Relay Mod Question

That's because it needs 12v to trigger the relay, not what is being passed through the large terminals. Because of the CUCV 24v starter, it needs the relay to allow the standard 12v dash/key system to trigger a 24v starter circuit. You are good.

Mega Score - Gear Vendors OD

Allows me to run a slip spline driveshaft and if I am ever out and have some issue with the rear end or u-joints I can pull the driveshaft and/or axle shafts and be able to use the front wheel drive to get me out. With a slip yoke, you can't remove the driveshaft and drive it. Just read about...

Mega Score - Gear Vendors OD

I happened to be on FB Marketplace doing some random searching Saturday night and ran across an ad for a almost new Gear Vendors OD unit. Made deal to meet up Sunday afternoon and drove 2 1/2 hours north and 280 miles round trip. This thing is mint and almost had zero use. Guy installed it on...

What tires are yall running on your CUCVs?

Not cheap but one of the best is Toyo Open Country M/T. I have these on my M1010 in 255/85-16. I am on a bunch of offroad and overland forums and Toyo's almost always end up at the top of the list, other than price. That has been the only negative item about them.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Welcome to the M1010 club. Sounds like you are going through systems and bringing them up to snuff. I have been doing the same, little by little. If you're on FB, check out my M1010 page in my signature.

Turn signals not working - steering column wiring

Ah, interesting. I haven't owned a civilian C/K series that was not pre '72.

Turn signals not working - steering column wiring

That ground tree was for grounding radio system that would get added in, from what I have read.

Installed civi Air conditioning in the m1009

Yeah I recall when you posted it. Both have pros and cons. Split system prevents one system from taking the whole system down. I am not worried about mounting the compressor since the 1010 had a compressor for the rear box. Dual alts already on pass. side.

If the TV cable is not set perfectly, you can toast a 700r4 in a matter of miles. It is not a kick down cable like a TH350. The TV controls the line pressure and if not right, it will cause the clutches to slip, not shift correctly and a host of other issues.
