Where do you check the fluid levels on the front winch of a M816? I know someone asked this not long ago but I never saw it answered and I cannot find it under "search". The worm gear side has a level check plug down towards the bottom but the only plug I can find on the other side is 2/3rds...
My guess would be a roller bearing. When the worn bearings get to a worn place on the race, you get the shutter. It could take a second for the rollers to come around to the worn place on the race, maybe?

The shifter on the passanger side is for the front winch. The one next to the driver is the transfer case. The one behind the seat on the left of the driver is the power divider which turns on the pto to the rear winch and the boom.
It is not a good idea to play with it without the manual...
There are manufactured seats just for this purpose. They mount in the cab and hing out and lower down to wheel chair level so that he can just slide over into or out of his chair. The device then takes the seat back up and puts it into the drivers of passengers position.
