It probably took a couple of hours to wind the cable on. Yes, we did need a bigger drill. We kept having to wait for it to cool down every 20 feet or so.
We just got out new winch installed and cable put on it yesterday. You might not think that it is much of an accomplishment, but have you ever tried to wind on a cable without a PTO or drive shaft? We did this with an electric drill.
Haven't tried to pull anyone out of a mud hole yet with...
Works good on tread plate. I just finished up removing the paint on the running boards of my M816. It does seem to work better on heavier material. It did the vise and the blocks in no time.
I used a wire brush on the bed tread plate before I got the scaler. Lots of dust and sweat with...
Thanks for the reply Dan. It's figure #217, item #17, in the 34P. Washers would probably work but I would like to know how thick they are supposed to be. I can't seem to figure out why you need a sholder bolt with a lock washer and flat washer on one side and a spacer on the other. What does...
My TM34P calls for ring spacers between the winch brackets and the winch. The sholder bolts go through these spacers. Does anyone have the dimentions of these spacers?
Jim
I just finished going through the manual I downloaded from the site. It has all the wire numbers going to all the switches. It is the 34 manual, chapter 4.
Love the site Chris. You have done an outstanding job.
One thing an old fart like me would like to see is larger fonts, and more contrast in the background. I know we all like green but there is a reason that almost all paper is white.
Thanks again,
Jim
Can anyone tell me what is on the data plates located on the middle of the level wind of the rear winch and the left-middle rear of the bed of a M816? I would like to replace them but there is not enough left to figure out what they are, and I have been unable to find a picture in any of the...
I believe that you would be a hazard for the other motorist. Your going to be going so slow that you couldn't even get a speeding ticket in a school zone!
What would it hurt if the ring came off? It can't go anywhere and you can't have a body part in the way if it's mounted. The worst that could happen is that your laundry bill would be a little higher.
The big difference in the troop seats for the drop down is that they have a small hole drilld into the vertical member that the pin on the side of the drop down fits into. This keeps the troop seats from falling off if you drop the sides with the seats on them.
There are as many idiots who misuse their turn signals as there are ones that don't use them. How about the guy who has had his signal on for the last twenty miles? Or, the one who lets it blink twice after he has already pulled half way into the next lane?
I've found that Sherwin Williams or Gillesby (sp?) work a lot better than Rustolium or Krylon. The spray pattern with their spray cans rivals that you can get with a gun, and the touch up is a breeze. Howevr, it is not a long term paint job. If left out in the weather, it will need a repaint...
In some places it just falls off and others, you can't sand it off. It's so hard that a DA sander won't hardly touch it with anything less than 36 grit. If you try to feather it, it leaves lines where it stops and starts because it seems to be two different consistancies from top to bottom...
