What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

TOBASH, I should have titled it "disassembled, cleaned, inspected, repacked, new boots and reassembly" of half shaft... I fortunately did not need to replace anything other than grease and boots. The ball bearings, star and cage were all in good condition. See full write up under topic "HMMWV...

    HMMWV Half Shafts

Today was a good tinker day, disassembled a half shaft to clean, inspect, repack and put new boots on. Lot of videos on how to remove half shaft so I wont get into that. Once I removed the half shaft I placed it in a vice. I removed the clamps on the boots (small screw driver works good)...

    HMMWV Half Shafts

Several guys are saying they have taken the half shaft apart and it's "time consuming but not difficult" but no one gives a play by play. I'm trying to break down an extra half shaft to build it up as a spare, inspect, new boots, fresh grease, fresh paint. The inboard side has a retainer ring...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Hold downs are internal, I just used some #10 bolts, drilled thru the plywood and put washers and nuts under plywood. Plywood comes out easy, just mark where you plan to put ammo can and drill away. 24v comes hot off batteries to master pwr switch then to fuse block and then to USB ect... I pwr...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

ChiefB Here is how I hooked my ammo box with USB, voltage and cig lighter spot. In the bottom of ammo box I put a 24-12volt transformer and fuse block, on top of these items I built a false bottom with 2 small "eye" hooks in opposite corners to lift false bottom for access to electronics. On top...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Drove mine 3+ hours each way to a "Touch a Truck" event that also collected canned food for the "Harry Chapin Food Bank". This was their 3rd annual event (I've been to each one), good showing of support from the community.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Took my unloader apart, cleaned and replaced parts, builds air good now. My problem was she would build air after first start then when that air was done so was she, would not build air again. First I thought (hoped) it was the governor but after swapping in a new governor same problem. Next was...

Started taking my unloader apart today to fix my air (not building) issue, here's what I found upon removing unloader section. I'd say the gasket is shot and she's a little dirty...
