    Deuce road tractor conversion

Teflon attaches to the fifth wheel - don't think they come in OD though :( ! Nice new top! NOS or reman?

Well I did it, stuck Deuce

Personally I have to disagree, as I used to be an engineer and an AWS CWI, the personal time to design for a unique situation should not enter into the equation as the price quoted is for a factory, made from drawings standard item... and it's only a roll over bar not a whole cage. Steel for...

Well I did it, stuck Deuce

hmmmm... I'm thinking "survival of the fittest", natural selection, evolution of the species or first place in this years Darwin awards. So we all win - if you don't learn from experience or given advise, then we 'the enlightened' will be left to carry the torch after you 'check out'. PS...

    Deuce road tractor conversion

Fantastic job Ray. Are you going teflon plate (dedicated trailer) or just grease (random trailers) for the 5th wheel?

Extra tools and different BII for wreckers

Ditto for ground anchors and pins. Page 48 of Field Manual 'FM 20-22 Vehicle Recovery Operations', where I notice that they have finally changed the Ward la France round pins - nightmare to get out, to hexagonal pins. So - the FM says 2 sets per wrecker - each set is 3 anchors and 10 pins, but...

my electronics shelter trailer/ camper project.

and or maybe some truck bedside/hinge down tool boxes/water tank... fore and aft of each wheel to "fill the gap" but it looks like a fine build sofar.

    Ferret down under picking trip.

Bronze green - hurrah! Hey Phil - sounds like a great trip. Hope the B60 is in good shape. Unfortunately, I think the specific value of your find will be lost on the general population of this site since the parts start with FV and not M. It is the nature of the beast and history and...

    How fast are EUCs going?

Well I guess I should count myself as lucky. After two corrections with the EUC staff at GL (very helpfull) I got mine in just about 2 weeks - first time ever purchase and I only have a green card! Collection this Fri - so I won't be able to get to Aberdeen (this year), that'll give me a year...

    Non Winch Offroad Recovery

No - read posts 13 and 14... unless that axle has a diff lock in it. But you could use the snatch block as an evener, with the two ends going to the rear most hubs - one either side, OR a double snatch block and the middle loop goes to the tow hook and both the ends to the hubs. "Are we...

    Deuce gun rack in cab

Wierd rifle clips... Did this question ever get an answer? These look like they are the pre SA-80 British rifle clips, circa '80's and earlier, should have someone over hear with pics. My Rovers were refitted for SA-80 before demob so I don't have any, but most British ExMil vehicles had...

Okay I got the Crown Nut off now what does it take to get the Lunette out? (photos)

If still not working - try having the heavier of you or your "friend" hang off of the pry bar, then the other person hits the lunette with a big sledge. Nest step... pry bar + friend, hitting AND heat! Good luck

Extra tools and different BII for wreckers

B II list Could someone please point me in the right dirrection of the B II list, I have seen the one for a Ward but I'd like to get the relevant one for an M 816. Thanks in advance. Did anyone mention cribbing/blocks/gun planks?

    Non Winch Offroad Recovery

Quick hint/tip (not found in other posts)... For safe, convienient storage of the 'loose' wire rope used between duals, try coiling rope inside an old motorcycle tire (ie., dirt bike front) or other large radius narrow tire. Hope this helps.

    Bumper ID for a Deuce

I believe the original 2 & 1/2 ton truck, made by GMC for troops in WWII, was nicknamed a 'Jimmy', as GPW became 'Jeep'..... I will stand corrected for more correct history.

    .

Well if Derrickl can reverse engineer them into a scale drg, then pop down the the local fab shop or steel yard and save postage... better yet, get some Al plate and you wouldn't need a crane!... Unless you have nasty NRA totting neighbours!

M102A2 goes south - not in a good way

Correction - M105A2 Yup - "Can't save em all"..... Got some pics on my phone but all I can do is text them to another phone! Must be another way...

M102A2 goes south - not in a good way

You're going to hate me for this, went to a country type farm auction - sort of a rural community thing - loads of farm equipment, loads of crap in boxes - hand tools and your general spring clearout... I was bidding on a tidy '68 M102A2, used for hauling gravel last, few small dings, couple...

So you want to buy a cheap truck from GL?

Sniping vs open bid Just to give the other side of the coin - I love snipng on ebay as I have no self control..... Yes, I admit it. I set my budget, it is set to snipe bid at 5 seconds before close - usually when I am fast asleep, don't have to sit by the computer in the last minutes and a win...

    M35a2 winching out a M818

Winch OR drive.. It all depends on the combined experience of the two vehicle operators and or supervisor giving instructions from the ground... So much damage can occur if the 'stuck vehicle' finds traction then drives over the winch rope, then you have a broken vehicle instead of just a...
