Ok - been through TM's and searched forum (question was asked once but no replys), I can't find maintenance / testing for the EBLS for M816 - looked through electrical and brakes also special equipment (wrecker)...
Can some one please point me in the right direction - TM or personal...
Just incase you want the TM proof!
I told you I'd be a nuisance now I can 'snapshot' - 'paint' - 'cut n paste'!!!! :-
(Just can't wait to try it out - SF-97 just arrived, next step DMV.... )
Thanks RAEME for the "T" handle Hi-Lo modification for easy split shifting.
Though if you are...
PG-Pete yup there is always mud - we have a trail more like a mud-run that goes behind a marshy area - cat tails n all!
Lots of wooded hills with flat fields to camp/set-up in.
Some trails are big enough for my M816 though most were cut for smaller 4x4's... We have an annual Land Rover meet...
I 'kind of' have the green light to orgainse a camp-out/BBQ type thing on our farm - Nr Cooperstown NY, (1 hr West of Albany).
This is intended to be a low stress event, a gathering of military vehicles (no public) to come play, camp, get dirty maybe - we have lots of trails on 75 acres -...
I think you are all talking about this one... If the pin rotates, then even if it has been bent and has a burr, you should be able to unwind it with the nut and jam nut inplace.
Same winch - different problem...
.... or "The ARMY broke my winch"!
Assuming the initial issue of this thread is resolved (unless there are some post PTO surgery pics???) - I'll throw my situation at the masses:
Clues:
I Chain, hook and damaged cable/cable end found under crane.

New grease fitting works!
All reassembled, grease fitting accessible from inside track frame when slid to drivers side. Grease comes out both the top and through the lower needle roller bearing - so I am well satisfied with new lube situation.
I also reversed the passenger side cable...
Just got a quote for my M816 (5 ton for those that don't know 'M' #s) for the whopping sum of $ 69 a year from J.C. Taylor Inc., they need pics and my valuation, are ok with it being "as released condition" needing much resto, is registered as limited use "historic" etc., etc., and this...
New grease fitting installed
Squirt-truck, you were right with regards the better location for the drilled hole and fitting.
When installed on truck, access for fitting will be from passenger side of trolley, when trolley is slid to drivers side. Located towards front edge. Straight grease gun...
Got y'all!
You need to edit your post and add to the very first line...
"Ha Haarrr - SUCKERS!"
Not even the recently televised 'Not tank - APC/Artillery piece "Tanks"!
.....Nice to hear that you are woking your toys - but like everyone else who has seen your post and then read it...
Thanks Ron - I had wondered on rope lengths, but I think that's "specified design" or "factory rating"... I was implying that if there is no level wind, then the cable will 'ball up' on the side of the drum that is towards the load, even a direct pull will ball in the center of the drum - so...
Don't be put off John - a very handy addition to the winch - it stops side loading of the drum from anything other than direct inline pull also stops "birds nesting" of unmanaged spooling in. Also allows more cable to be stored too !
They have been in use for a long time and if kept "oiled"...
