I drove my Deuce yesterday and it was 31 degrees out. I let it warm up to around 150 before I left my house. I took a 8 mile trip with it and it never went above 160. It has a 180 degree thermostat in it. I don't understand why it does not at least hit 180. My pyrometer was between 900 and 1150...
I agree with Frioman. I did the same thing to my deuce to get the door to stop at the right position. Those brackets you bought look like they could be something for an up armored cab since the door would be a lot heavier.
I posted a wanted ad in the classifieds but in case somebody didn't see it, I am looking for (2) brackets to mount a fuel fired cab heater in a 939 Series 5 Ton. I am looking for Item 17 in the pictures below. Does anybody have these two brackets or something close that might work?
EDIT: These...
I DID THAT! I hit my head on the corner of my open drivers door after coming back up from petting a dog. my head bled pretty good and I can still feel the scar!
I had 14,000 pounds of water in the back of my Deuce before. I put a swimming pool liner in the back and water was within a couple inches of the top of the troop seats. I did the math and it came out to about 14,000 pounds. Low range worked good and was just driving around a fairground at slow...
When I rebuilt my truck I noticed one of the rods would rub on the hole that is in the cab floor. I had to tweek things just a little bit to get more clearance do it did not touch. It never caused a problem when it touched, but I just didn't want it to cause issues in the future. Dont forget the...
Umm.... I think my Deuce turning 2200 RPM down the highway and holding a solid 48MPH is just as sexy. Girls can be headaches especially those high maintenance ones. Not worth it. I'm holding myself back from a rant right now. haha :) :o
Both engines were good. The later blocks were "TD" blocks, where there was increased material where the head bolted on. The "TD" stood for "thick deck" and helped with head gasket sealing issues. As far as turbos I heard the D turbos were the strongest and most durable but did not make a good of...
Looks to me like a M105 trailer... if it has 6 lug nuts. The other trailer is I think an M101 if it has 15 lug nuts... They pulled the M101's behind M37's and the M105's got pulled behind Deuces... for the most part.
I'm almost 100% sure the winches were the same as an M35 on those 135's or 211's. Every one I saw looked the same with the only exception was the band brake housing was turned 90 degrees. After reading some of the posts by Gringeltaube, there were a couple different changes they made to the drum...
The Xs were probably for what the rods and mains were turned down to when it was rebuilt. That info is gone to as what box they were stamped in. I am almost 100% confident on that one.
Do the winter front covers for the 939 series help them a lot during the winter? Of all the years I have been on this site, I never seem to see many trucks with them on. Do they usually run too cold when it is 20 degrees out or does it help with the cab heater operation? I know the heat (and...
That is a Studebaker, isn't it? I would love to have that truck if I was closer. It would be a fantastic truck with a nice small trailer and LDS power. I hope it goes to a good home!
