I was ever going to put an electric on it, I would want it to be top quality with a field proven track record. I would want to update my alternator to a field proven modern one too (just because mine looks like it is old and not like an NOS one (higher mileage i think). one thing i don't like is...
If any fuel line looks questionable, replace it. I know a good hose shop you can get top quality replacement hose at.
Your cylinder is not loading up with oil. If your valve seals did leak, it would hardly be any oil to drip down the valve stem. 2 drops, if that. Your engine does not look...
I put about 4000-5000 miles on mine a year. I drive it to work a lot and other things you need a deuce for... like getting groceries and going to ice cream stands ;-)
Thats what I try telling 74M35A2. I like how the stock deuce fan is field proven and it works great. Its only a matter of time before an electric fan goes bad when you need it most. I run WMO for fuel and not really concerned about fuel mileage. Also don't care about speed that much.... if I...
I have a Oil Filter/Cooler Assembly like the one shown in Post #73 from a white tractor that has the "same" engine as the Deuce. These came with spin on filters from the factory and someday I will swap the one over on my M109. Too bad I do not have the assembly close by, I would take pictures...
Try soaking it in transmission fluid/diesel mix. I have a Jerry can that is in good shape but has some nasty varnish in the bottom. I put about a third of a gallon of gasoline and some ATF in there and then just put it in the back of my jeep. My theory was just the day to day driving would slosh...
Oh man, he spelled Deuce wrong in his username. Poor guy. Anybody that sees that is never going to take him seriously now. :-(
If you let us know what the electrical problem is maybe we can help.
Just positive criticism: If you type in complete sentences and spell things correctly it may help...
When the thermostat opens and closes, does it slide on that seal? If so, could an older seal be harder and make it tougher to move and make the thermostat not work as good?
Well the later M105's used 2 wheel cylinders and the early ones only used one i think (per side). I just recently bought an M1061 Trailer and I am interested in this also. I want to pull all the wheels, pack the bearings, service everything before I use it. If the shoes look good, I will just...
yea, its good to check the oils and not take anything for granted. I blew a bearing on my transfer case on my deuce when I let it get too low. I knew better. The seals did leak a little bit and a long time ago i found a piece of bearing cage on the drain magnet, so I knew it was not 100% (but it...
There is also a Diode that connects by where the horn is. It looks like just a wire that plugs into the harness, then has a bulge about half way down the wire, then has a ring terminal that connects to ground. 74M35A2's was fried and put an good take out one in it. When his diode failed, the...
Check the actual connection at the horn button itself. Button gets its ground through the spring. I fixed 74M35A2's horn on his M925A2 and that was part of the problem. The Horn button was not getting a good ground to work.
I know this is an old thread, but Welldigger said to replace the seal because if you don't, it will run cold around town and hot down the highway. I'm not sure what condition the seal has to be in, but mine was intact when I (actually 74M35A2 changed it for me) changed it. I put in the Napa...
Some belt part numbers are easy to read. Such as Napa has belts like 4L56... where the last two digits represent the belt length and the 4L represents the belt width. I wonder if serpentine belts have a similar format. It is something to look into.
Locking hubs don't interest me much. I would rather have the ARB Airlocker and call it a day. I would put 2 in the rears and leave the front open. I cant justify putting one in the front.... Heck, i cant hardly justify putting 2 in the rears the way I drive it. It's a want, not a need.
I'm warning you, taking one for a drive is highly addictive. That is all it took for me and I was done for. I bought one soon after. Doghead is a great guy and will help you out in any way he can. He was the first SS guy I met along with the late great D8Dave. Doghead will take good care of you...
