Stan, Sometimes these cracks happen when the front axle bottoms out. GM built the front driveshaft a little too long. When the axle bottoms out it binds the driveshaft against the transfer case and busts it or the tranny. It's worse on the contact maintenance trucks because of the weight. The...
I used all factory parts. The intake manifold and air filter are from a 93 6.2. The intake hose is from a 80's 350 small block. No more drone noise from the engine at speed. You can carry a conversation at 55MPH now. I got the parts from a junk yard. I have about $50 into it.
Just a thought. The "C" turbo has no heat shield between the turbine and the bearing housing. Not too big a deal with a multi fuel that isn't turned up. The Multi Is about 70 cubic inches more. With hardly any exaust back pressure. So removing the heat isn't a big deal. I sudjest some pretty...
I put a little never seize in the threads. Because they rust on me over time. Then later when I need to adjust them the screw isn't stuck to the plastic making them strip. This lets me adjust them again.
Greg, Lock one hub on the front axle. Then with the transfer case in 2WD. Try to turn the front drive shaft by hand. If it turns then it's a open diff. If not then it's a Trac-lok. I will try to post a rear spring pic of mine for you.
I too fought the dreaded death wobble. After replacing everything possible on the axle. It still was there. The cure for me was new leaf spring bushings. I replaced both on the front springs and the ones in the frame at the shackles. From those pics you posted those spring eyes look pretty bad...
What your describing sounds like the shelter tie downs used on the 1028's. It could have been converted by a unit. Or the bed replaced while in a refurbish. If it has the overload springs on the rear axle then it's more than likely a 1028. If you have the limited slip front axle then this would...
Is this your first oil change? If this is the first one maybe it's the wrong dipstick? Maybe you have one from a 454 gasser? Yes you should get 7 in there. Does the oil smell like diesel? If so maybe the fuel pump on the side of the engine block failed and is pumping diesel into the oil pan...
