This it the radiator I installed. It's all aluminum. It has 3 cores but they are twice the size as the original. The tanks are larger also, and it holds a full gallon more coolant than the original. I got it at a local radiator shop here in Houston so I Don't have a part number. I used...
There wasn't any push back on my part. I was just wondering why you would want it that way. I have a couple civi trucks with 6.2's and didn't see a advantage to converting to 12 volt. They don't start any better than my M series trucks. I'm not telling you not to do it. I was just wondering what...
The BO lights are 12volt. Everything but the starting system is 12 volt, unless you have a M1010. Just wondering, why would you want to switch to a 12 volt starter?
Try removing the ground to the front battery while the truck is running. Does the engine die? If not, what is the voltage at the alternators positive terminal? I with Rich though. I think alt rebuilds are in your future.
I agree. I am planning on adding his kit my self. I can understand a 195 tstat for trucks in New England. But for those of us in a warmer climate running so close to critical temps can't be a good idea. I would think a lower inlet water temp could only help keep these hot spots in check. A...
Have yall tried swapping to a 180 deg thermostat? I also swapped to a 6 blade 20inch fan. The stock 5 blade fan isn't up the task. Even towing my tractor in 100+ Texas heat it never breaks 190 now.
They don't come with from the factory or need exaust manifold gaskets. And the RTV silicone on the valve covers is typical of military repairs. The valve covers and oil pan leaks fairly easily.
Try GM PN 15529883 I Just got these through wholesale gm parts online. They shipped from Bob Hook Chevrolet. I was wrong about the flywheel cover. I have both and I compared the two. The bolt holes are in a different location. I just bought these this spring. Even though a PN might show to be...
Highy unlikely you will crack it unless you are doing dukes of hazard jumps. gmwholesale partsoneline.com has them. Just look for a Late 90's k2500 with a 6.5 diesel. You will need the plates behind the motor mounts along with the two rods. There is a parts diagram so you can see what you need.
Hey thanks for the info. It will be used in south Texas at times also. I think it will work out great on hog hunting trips. I've ordered a Robert Shaw 330-180 thermostat for it. It worked great in my M1028.
True but is was hoping the viscous clutch would engage at a lower temp. I wanted to install a 180 thermostat and hope to keep it less than 205 deg. The fan now does not come on until above 200 and off at 190.
Will the viscous clutch engage at lower engine temps? I swapped to a 180 thermostat and would like the fan to keep it that cool. My CUCV runs at 180 this way. I have forded my M1028 many times after hurricanes and tropical storms. A Few times for miles. I enter the water and stop just before...
I'm a little curious, I was under the assumption that the coolant flows from the water pump around the cylinders then up into the heads from the back of the block. Then forward across the heads to the thermostat housing and out to the rad. If this bypass helps then is coolant able to come up to...
