I'd like to dig up some history on my Deuce, but when my Deuce came out of DMRO, the front bumper numbers were spray painted over. However, the rear bumperett numbers are still on there.
1) Are the front bumper numbers, and rear bumperett numbers the same numbers?
2) And why do they paint...
I'd be up to making a few sets, when time would allow me to. This is a very busy summer right now for me. Just to let you know, they won't be cheap. As there's a couple hundred pounds of material (steel prices are up) welding the brackets inside and out, uses alot of wire, around 120 holes...
I have a MllerMatic-250 mig welder in my shop. This is what I used to weld up all the brackets in this build. I run .035, ER70 wire, with 100% Carbon Dioxide for the inert gas. I've had the welder for over 10 years, ran hundreds of pounds of wire through it, and never once had a problem with...
I set some time aside today, to at least get the front shocks picked out and installed on the front axle. The shocks that were the proper length, had a stud on the top, and bolt/bushing on the bottom. I wasn't about to drop a hundred bucks or more, on a new pair of extended shocks for the...
If it was me doing this project, and I wanted to keep the dual tandems and run 53's on a Deuce.....
Lets pick a number, and just say that you want to seperate the axles by 6"
1- I'd lenghten all the dog-bones 3" each.
2- The bottom two leaf springs on the rear of a Deuce, that the axles...
I've been driving the Deuce with out any shocks on it, as the stock shocks are now much too short. My next step is to install shocks, front and rear.
I dug through some of my old parts left over from 4x4 trucks that I had parted out, or scraped out from over the years. I found the box that...
I have no rubbing issues. The rims are 10" wide, and a two piece, bolt-together in the center design. One half of the wheel is 4" and the other is 6". I can run them ether way, with what ever of the two backspaces I choose, 4 or 6". As I currently have it right now (in the photos) I'm using...
Ask, and you shall receive.....
For the steering arm. I made a 5" rise arm, over stock. It's made out of 1" thick A-36 steel. Then the drag link, I use 1/4" thick wall tube, with a 1/4" flat gusset on each side at the welded angle joint. The drag link has a 2 1/2" drop, over stock. I was...
I have about 30 csrs/trucks/boats (mostly mine, some are friends or family) stored here in my buildings on our farm. I've never had a single problem with mice getting into a car chewing up anything, ever. The best mouse deterent that I can recomend is "BARN-CATS".
The cats work for cheep...
I started my hub flip tonight. And when I pulled out the axle shaft, the first thing that I noticed was the Jack A$$ that did the bearings last never bent the tabs over on the lock ring to keep the outer lock nut from coming loose. Also missing is the little rubber gasket that fits down in the...
I've gotten side tracked over the last week. (been a busy week) So no, I haven't mounted the XZL's yet.
I did start the hub-flip today though:wink: So the 53's should be bolted on over the next few days.
I had rolled the Deuce out of the barn to do some shop cleaning, so here some updated...
The farm here has an abundance of irragation ditches all around. All sizes, from shallow to deep and narrow to wide. I'll let it crawl through a few and test out the flexabiliaty and see what the shaft slip-yoke is like at full droop. If I need to extend the shafts, I will. Before the lift I...
Yes, you are correct.
I figured that, seeings how I bought a M-105 trailer for the box, I might just as well use the springs/hangers that are there on it too. The leaf springs do make it ride fairly nice for a truck this size. Instead of running a 3" to 4" block in the back like most do...
Where do you get these driveshaft spacers from?
If they're cost effective, I'd consider buying a set. But personally, I'm comfortable with where the slip-yolk is presently at.
