No Don, but then, I drive my deuces pretty slow. They never see anything over 2200 and generally not over 2000. I was surprised at how easy it does turn though. I had a mixed set of Michelins and 177s on my 68 until we got some more Michelins in. That gave me an excellent showing of how the two...
The tread is too hard, it breaks chunks out instead of flexing or cutting. Lots of the ones in the yard and my front ones are missing chunks. They clean as well as the Michelins.
Putting them on a deuce? They are about 80 pounds heavier than a Titan 900. Tire and wheels with tube and flap weigh 240 pounds. No rubbing issues on mine, but that is a huge increase in rotating mass. They are very hard rubber and bad about chunking the tread in rocks. We are running a set on...
Okay, the title says most of it. We had a huge surplus of G177s and I had some tired tires on a deuce. Now the surplus is eleven less and the deuce has new shoes. Those center pivot bolts are close! It drives and steers great, I thought I would notice a big power loss, but not as bad as I...
I tried to remove one, tried all the above tricks, even tied it to a tree and and gave it a healthy pull with a crawler. We successfully pulled the rear cross member out and bent the frame rails, the ring is still securely attached. It would have made a great video....
Panic Switch
The truck was also a gun truck at some time, the cab is all reinforced and we found the broken remains of a gun ring in the box. It has an interesting Panic Switch....
I had a couple of SS members stop by today for 900 20 tires, which we have lots of... during the conversation 900 16s popped up. Yes, I had a pair and a secondary pair on a trailer. Now he has four and a trailer... They also scored a few nice new Titans.
New arrivals? Yes, about 40 M105...
I think locking hubs are next for me, maybe even a set for the middle axle as well.... Nice truck, I love mine! Need a nice M105 trailer? Sit back, it never ends.... they told me a deuce was going to be expensive, the deuce was cheap, all the following paraphernalia is getting expensive...
My 68 steers so much easier with the 1100s on it, one would think it was a different truck. Mine has duals, but they are Michelins. I also have a winch truck and suspect running 70 pounds in the fronts accounts for a lot of the steering improvement. I would not readily go back.
Here's the challenge. It appears to me that I can build a short five ton, using half of the M923 box. I would like to do it with the taller Marine bed sides on GoodYear 14R20 tires. It looks like the rear mudflaps will be very close to the end of the bed. I cannot decide if I want to use the...
