I found TWO of the 28V solar panels on fleabay for under $50 each in the past year. $35 plus about $6 priority S&H for the first, IIRC. One for MEP-802A genset, other for this HMMWV. It's the same panel. Has desulfating/pulse unit with the kit.
I don't understand why the whole kit runs so...
drained transmission fluid overnight, took pan off this AM, cleaned, and I mean cleaned it inside out. No chips, just a little metal sludge/dust on magnet (it's a 3L80). took a steel brush to the pan, some steel wool, acetone, air, and hit it with some black zinc primer and 383 green spray...
Busy couple of days. replaced fuel tank and rear propeller shaft yesterday. Muffler was Saturday.
Today, took fuel filter off, finished replacing all fuel lines, then did the part I haven't been looking forward to: bleeding the fuel lines.
I poured ten gallons of diesel into the tank while I...

Was going to pull wheels to drain hubs, now I'll inspect them for this too, although the truck WAS in service until...
One of the first things I did when I got my truck home was to squirt Kroil on the threads and remove every lug nut one at a time. Hosed down with a little WD40, took a stainless brush to a few, put a little dab of anti-seize on the threads and reassembled to torque. Took a couple hours, but...
When stationed in Germany years ago (Augsburg), I took the German driver's license test (the one with the awareness tests - how many cars are near you? Behind? Time, distance questions, coordination and reflexes with the little blunt-tipped screwdrivers, etc) and in the lectures there was much...
Sounds like a good idea.
Poked around on the web for a few minutes. How and where does one find a five micron filter to match? Tried at summit racing. Tried AMSOIL (they don't even show Hummers older than 2002) and their EA line of filters only go down to 20 micron.
I COULD do this all day...
One of the easier one-hour installations I've done. While I had the transfer case/shafts out, I dropped the old filter block and installed the new dual filter kit. EXCEPT for the center bolt being ridiculously tight (I used an air impact tool on low setting to remove it after trying a short...
Reinstalled muffler, more or less. got seals off, scraped and took a wire brush then coarse steel wool to remove old seals, got hanger up, u-bolt on, and rear mount bolts in place. Nuts/bolts are just on, loose, I ran out of patience.
TIP: I used the wooden end of the same wire brush to hold...
Access panel cutout. Figure I'll drill a couple holes in the "hump" (the tabs are in the LOW part), run a zip-tie though fore and aft, then just run a bead of silicone in the gap for weather/exhaust fume proofing. Layer of insulation and the plywood board goes over it anyway.
Also got the...
Got the 271 TC installed today. Lift didn't reach. I wound up lowering it, pulling it up into my lap and lifting it into place. Not easy, but without a tank, driveshaft or muffler there's a LOT of room to maneuver. Glad I ate my Wheaties this morning. Filled it up with fresh ATF which...
Welcome.
DO check the for sale boards here, on g503.com and I think there're some other places. Some really good deals can be had from time to time.
Enjoy.
Puttered around with fuel tank, cleaned up fittings, painted brackets with rustoleum rust converter stuff, armor plate by tank too, knocked out the retaining plate from the tank to find no o-rings. Must've been put in on later models, or someone forgot this step at the factory. Parts from HPG...
