MEP-002a hard to crank then does not run right

I would say to check the injectors and pumps and do a compression test.

    MEP Drawing restoration

I removed the under development from the file since I've not gotten any more feedback on errors.

    803 Diagnostic

The drawing restoration thread is here - https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?159693-MEP-Drawing-restoration&p=1933214&viewfull=1#post1933214 This one is much easier to read than the ones in the TM.

M831 issues - need advice on next step

The governor module acting up is a common problem on this generator. The consensus at this point is due to moisture getting into the POTs. You can try to dry it out using the warm oven method described in another thread. The other alternative is to buy the digital controller from the forum...

    803 Diagnostic

I've not seen a scanner personally. I've only seen them referenced in the TM. The pins on the port are identified on the control schematic. Even without a scanner the diagnostic port is a great place to do troubleshooting with a VOM or test light.

24V Battery Charger Questions, who makes a good one?

I have the Genius G7200. It works well on 12v and 24v applications.

Any simple way to wire an MEP-805B to a transfer switch allowing for exercising

You'll need to install an autostart controller on the generator to handle the startup sequence. You should be able to buy one and make it work. Looking at the startup sequence the computer is not required to interact with to start the unit. You just have to let it boot up before starting. This...

    60KW genset phase quandry

If you have a single phase capable machine you should run it in single phase mode and wire everything up normally. It will have a neutral. The 3 phase generators is what you can split up to run two hots and a neutral to your house loads and the remaining hot and a neutral to garage loads. Both...

    60KW genset phase quandry

Residential power is split phase (center tapped single phase). Industrial power is 3 phase. Residential has two load conductors each 180 degrees out of phase with each other (plus a neutral) Industrial power has 3 load conductors each 120 degrees out of phase with each other. It can have a...

    mep 803 WHY?

I agree. The bargains in this market are gone. I've managed to have nice examples of several units that I had considered selling but after looking at the cost to buy the next round I'll most likely keep these to help friends and family.

    mep 803 WHY?

If you are using the generator on a regular basis to power equipment in your shop then fuel rotation should not be a problem so long as you are not storing too much fuel. Even if you do store a lot there are procedures for dealing with it. If your usage hours is modest, meaning a hundred or...

Any simple way to wire an MEP-805B to a transfer switch allowing for exercising

There is no single phase conversion for the 805. It is a 10 wire head. You can convert a MEP005 but not a MEP805. You are stuck with 3 phase out of that machine.

    60KW genset phase quandry

All the 8xx series generators 15kw and up are 10 wire heads.

    Anyone Grid tied their generator?

To give you a more direct answer, it is challenging if not next to impossible to get co-gen approval for a residential install. The MEPs do not have the correct type of speed control or voltage regulator to make them suitable for parallel operation with a utility (or each other - except for...

    Anyone Grid tied their generator?

Strongly advise against it. I've seen it go badly with a megawatt sized generator. Had to replace a bunch of parts. It was ugly. Cool to witness but ugly. The grid don't play. It will trash your stuff and not even blink.

    Generator connection choices

i doubt anyone will be doing a sustained load above that long enough to matter in a residential backup scenario.

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

I've wanted to buy the ones on the classified. They look like great pieces of gear.

Safest way to uses a MEP 804b as a backup generator

True and this also will not matter for virtually any modern appliance.
