Westfolk's Steel Oil Spin On Adapters

A reasonable argument can be made that if the military thought that drain back was a great feature, they'd have specified it on other vehicles/ equipment. Is there anything else which has this "feature"? The early gasoline trucks did not nor did their civilian counterpart. Does the Cat in the...

Westfolk's Steel Oil Spin On Adapters

There are bypass valves for both the filters and the cooler. Heated oil from the pan can circulate right around cold oil in the filter OR cooler. Practically speaking, the drain back PROLONGS the time for oil to reach critical areas and is a prime reason cited for adding the spin on adapters...

Westfolk's Steel Oil Spin On Adapters

If I recall correctly, he indicated that it was speculation. It would be interesting to see if any of the SAE papers address this.

Westfolk's Steel Oil Spin On Adapters

Are there any references or justification for the idea that the military WANTED the oil to drain back? In normal designs (this one too) the oil can simply bypass the oil filters. Design flaws do happen.......

    Piston squirters

I have searched and read the TMs but want to be sure.... The LD and LDT and LDS all have piston squirters. Only the LDS has the channel to cool the top ring. Correct?

    GVWR for a bobbed deuce...

I choose the weight to license it at and pay accordingly (more $$ for more weight).

    GVWR for a bobbed deuce...

Here in SD, I set the GVWR to whatever I want.... Of course, I cannot exceed axle/ wheel maximum weight, etc.

    Head Gaskets/Freeze Plugs....It begins

I've had the best luck using loctite to seal studs into water jackets. Especially if the threads are a bit worn in the block/ head.

    MF vs Gas differences

Well, I bought a MF cheap enough just to satisfy my curiosity and am wondering as to what it really takes for a swap. Radiator, side covers, grill, accelerator pedal bellcrank, front x-member, ????

Serious Crankshaft Issue, what to do?

Loctite makes a gap filling retaining product which may be worth a try.

    Lucas oil additive

Most folks seem to be happier with the marketing department.

    Lucas oil additive

I have an advanced engineering degree with seven years in product development. What I stated stand as appropriate criticisms of anecdotal claims.

    Lucas oil additive

I don't put much stock in "anecdotal" evidence. First off, you have no control group so you don't have any idea what would have happened without the additive. Second, your sample size is far too small to be statistically significant. Third, you are lacking the failure analysis to prove your...

    MF vs Gas differences

I have searched but haven't found any threads which discuss the more nuanced differences. I understand that replacement fenders were included in the MF retrofit kit. Does anyone know if the taller side covers/ grill were included in the retrofit or are a REQUIREMENT for a MF? So, which...

    MF vs Gas differences

I bought a MF grill/ cover for my gas truck only to find that the MF is an inch taller and that the side covers are correspondingly different (the gas side covers taper toward the front whereas the MF are straight). Why was this done? Was it done to fit the MF in a gas truck? What other...

    Transfer Case Question

No, you do not. This has been thouroughly debunked.

    Chinese IP Head

Has anyone thought about using the Roosamaster IP from the White tractor? Supposedly much easier and cheaper to rebuild.

    Transfer case barfing oil

Yep, part of the chassis lubrication system.
