When you first turn the switch on, a small solid state circuit board energizes the glow plugs for a set time and turns the wait light on at the same time.
With a manual setup, you simply put a pushbutton on the dash, and your brain and finger repalce the small microchip on that circuit card...
I thought you said you don't buy from GL anymore?
Anyway, it is for the best in the long run. Driving right off with no clue as to the actual mechanical condition of the vehicle is a gamble, and sooner or later someone doing it will kill or seriouslsy injure somebody. Next thing you know we...
Condition code is meaningless on GL listings. They just put what DRMO put, DRMO just puts what the unit turning it in put, they put whatever they had to put to get it turned in.
Yep, all the vehicles in my maintenance platoon have caps done like that so we could swap them on a vehicle we needed to troubleshoot.
However, we found that for safety you need to have two things- a valve to release the pressure first, so yhou can release the pressure before removing the cap...
Swap your glow plug system to a manual switch, keep some extra diode packs packs for your alternators, and you are good to go.
As far as ignition, a Kettering is a points style system for a gasoline engine that uses spark plugs. Your diesle uses compression ignition and has no ignition system.
Original buyer needs to get the title in his name using the SF-97. No way around that in most cases.
Sounds liek he is just trying to be cheap and pass the buck to you, but he is screwing you over when he does that.
A huge pat on the back for doing a recovery the right- and safe way. Towing it off base to a place you can inspect it, verify the roadworthyness, and making repairs needed before putting it on the public roadways.
I know where there are several shelters that have the racks, many of the GRC-106 componets and the teletypes still in them.
Waiting for someone to save them frm being stripped down for the coppper...
For hobby buyers, I doubt it will cause any major issues.
For those who do this for a living, going several weeks with no ability to preview or pickup us extremely piss poor customer service from Government Liquidation. A hobby buyer can wait a few extra weeks with no loss. A small business...
More crappy management from Government Liquidation. No previews will cut a lot of bidders out, and being unable to pick up for that long will piss off a lot of people.
When someone is going to be out like that, the right answer is send someone from another location to cover. Not Tims fault but...
All the rebuilds I have ever seen the military use were military rebuilt, not rebuilt by GEP.
The 6.2's that were going in older trucks were all rebuilds, however this year the Army declared that there would be no more 6.2 rebuilds and all older trucks would now get a slightly detuned 6.5 when...
Yes.
The engines made by General Engine Products, the division of AM General that makes the engines, are better engineered and many of what were the weak points of the GM made engines .
The blocks used in them are cast by Navistar, and the weak points found in the GM blocks were engineered...
I just looked at a frankentruck today- LDS engine according to the data plate on the block, with a LDT C trubo and a passenger side starter. It was a truck that started its life as a multifuel from the size of teh guage panel, but had a straight M35 REO date plate taht somebody had scratched...
In order to sell it overseas you need prior approval from the State Department. Best bet as an individual is to pay for the services of a customs broker who is experienced in doing it to handle that for you. It will not, however, be cheap.
