how do I get the paint off my CUCV?

Easy-Off oven cleaner. Spary, wait until it starts to bubble a bit, then hit it with a pressure washer. Does a great job of taking 1 layer off at a time.

    The Weldernator, My latest Project

There is actually a pre-made solution for MIG welding from any 24v vehicle with a slave connector: Readywelder.com | There's nothing like it! I use these in uniform, and like it so much I bought my own. Simply drive up, hook into the slave cannector, and go.

Im considering this, but if i do, will i be ridiculed and ostracized from rallys :^)

One alternative if you just haul stuff in the bed now and then is to use a canvas tarp in the bed as a field expedient bedliner. A right size tarp will go in just like a bedliner and they are very durable- and when you are finished just pull it out.

What are M416B1 trailers selling for these days?

I have an M416B1 and I know it is the uncommon varient- trying to decide if I just want to keep it and use it or if it is worth selling. It has the lifting rings, jeery can mounts (one is not bolted on but I have it) and the 422 wheels with the right hubs.

2 M101 trailers- Redstone to Clyde NC

Free trailer if you move one for me AL to NC I just won two M101's and am debating if I should take a day off from the shop to go get them or have someone move them for me. They are at Redstone, and would be coming to Clyde NC 28721- about 285 miles. Both look to have great tires, and they...

    GILBERT 2010 Update

Shame. I can remember when this community (MV collectors) was honest enough you could set parts out with prices and an ammo can for folks to drop cash into.

painting with an air paintgun, 101

Make sure you have a really good air dryer/oil remover on your air line to the paint gun. I have actually had really good luck with the Harbor Frieght (sold under other names too) HVLP turbine units. They use a shop vac style turbine instead of a compressor, so there is no oil or water to...

Question about Picking up my trailers

    Shouldn't be an issue.

    Need Help Identify Boarding Ladder

Sure it isn't MX-3543/G? That is the ladder for an S-250 shelter.

EUC question - What do you think?

Nope. The retarded EUC proccess will continue, and the folsk who run it will guard thier jobs well top make sure it stays like it is. Buy something cheap- like a 105 trailer, and send your EUC off for it.

    A question for MKT owners

If I was planning to tow it as a matter of habit with a truck like yours, I would convert the brakes or electric over hydraulic. You should be able to buy the actuator for around $600, and that is a small price for the extar safety it will provide.

What's this space heater all about?

I sell the immersion heaters, I have a bunch new in the crate. US Military Immersion Heaters Made for Gasoline, but they run on diesel fine, it just makes them a tad harder- but much safer- to light. I run one on diesel by squirting a bit of Coleman fuel from a squeeze bottle in to start it.

    Need help asap

It is very piss poor management that Government Liquidation will have the only employee that can release your truck out fo town, but count those days against you in your pickup time. I would get on live chat and tell them that if they hold the days thier employee was unavailable for pickup...

400hz gen sets able to do 60hz?

I hear what you are saying- but by planning for the highest possible amp draw scenario (and it looks like you are overestimating as well, going off the ratings for the circuits and not actual consumption), and not wanting to limit use when on the set, you are ending up running your genset the...

400hz gen sets able to do 60hz?

Most household units around here run from 5-12kw. Properly done a 3kw works- I do it now. I have yet to see anyone who installed a 20-30kw who actually ran it at a healthy load for the genset. Part of backup power is planning to load your generator in a smart fashion.

400hz gen sets able to do 60hz?

So what percentage of the time is all this stuff on at the same time? Maybe 1% of the time you have every burner on the stove, the oven at full blast, are drying clothes, just emptied the hot water heater, and are running the heat or AC at full load, have every light, TV and computer on? You...

400hz gen sets able to do 60hz?

Unless you have a need for that much power, you are asking for trouble. Running a 30k or so with a light load is bad for the generator and will lead to wet stacking, since the engine has very little load the combustion is incomplete and the unburned fuel washes down the cylinder walls, leading...
