Kent, You stated that the wire you are using don't seem to be as large as the ones you are replacing, make sure that you are using the proper gage wire, if too small will heat up and get fried

deuceman51, Where did you get the pump for $50.? The capacitor is not polorized, the voltage goes thru the cap, the cap is connected to ther cable connector on one end and is pigtailed on the other which is screwed to the cable which goes to the pump.
