Anyone ever put this in their diff? I have a persistently leaky diff (at the axle seal), and wondering if this is a good solution for that. That is a much higher RPM application though. Everything I have read about it is for low-speed uses - although admittedly I know nothing about the farm...
For those of you who have been using cornhead grease in your winches - do you replace it? Worried about how I would drain & replace it if its too thick to flow? My knuckles I have to tear down and wipe it all off to replace it. I know this isn't that thick, but I don't trust that it 'never'...
I did. I put them in a while ago (a year maybe?) The p-side is leaking again I believe. I think that side has issues though. The knuckle has always struggled to go together and some of the ring bolts are spun. I need to tear it apart and heli-coil all the ring stud holes and see if I can...
Front axle boots. Again. Sigh.
Also completed a bunch more prep work for the winch install. Got PTO parts back from the machinist after a dip in the hot tank, sprayed primer and the first coat of OD green on the parts. Hopefully I can get the 2nd coat in on a few days, and then reassemble...
That looks awful! I have an (un)healthy fear of getting stuck. I cant imagine looking at that pond and thinking "hey, I should drive my truck in there!" let alone "hey, I should follow that other guy in there!"
Hats off for the cajones my friend.....
Thanks G! I'll canx the orders I have out there - fortunately none of them are for very much $, and I'll keep up the hunt. I really, really appreciate your checking the measurements on the existing ones.
In the meantime, I am on the hunt for any good used ones.
Jakob - sent you a PM bud ;-)
The TWD AX1014 shows 3/8" height as well? Also mine (albeit deformed) measured ~.97" across the top - I figured they were 1" when new?
Part Number: TWD AX1014
Product Line: TW...
Rusty - thanks for the nod that direction. Between what you posted up and the helpful additional details from Gringeltaube I was able to find them at my local Napa for $1.75 ea. A heck of a lot better than the $45/ea that they were listed for online! To be fair, I did also find them elsewhere...
Jakob - I'll take whatever you can spare. PM with how much you want for them and shipping, cheers bud.
Sandcobra - appreciate the offer, if I end up needing more than Jakob has I'll shoot you a note.
G - that was a good read, tks for posting up the link. I am no stranger to the cone washers...
I spent my weekend doing new axle boots on my deuce. In total, six hours on the d-side boot alone. Three of those were spent trying to remove two of the conical washers from where the steering arm attaches to the knuckle. Ultimately I was able to get them out, but they were destroyed in the...
Take off the top and lay a 4x4 over the rear cab lip and the windshield frame/hood, then use a come-along or chain fall and support it from above. I've done it this way 2x and it was far, far easier and safer than futzing around with a tranny jack. Just my $.02.
Back to the OP: obviously the use of a C or D turbo is personal choice, and different folks fall on different sides of the line. Because of that there is generally pretty good opportunity to swap if you don't have the one you want. I had a C and swapped it for a D with another member. We both...
X2 - contracts are intended to protect both parties. It gives you, as the renter, rights. If you're upholding your end, then your landlord should be held to that same standard. You can be friendly about it, just take the contract in and inquire which part you are in violation of. If you have...
My general theory on this stuff is to not be a jerk. That being said, what's in your contract? The reality is that a bobber is just a big truck, tough to legally single it out. They can't tell you not to park there because they "don't like" the truck.
I know value is very dependent on area, but on the west coast $5.5k for a clean running truck is a SMOKIN' deal. I've had folks knock on my door and offer me $8k+ in cash outright if I would sell my bobbed deuce. If its as clean as it looks/is described then I would jump on it.
I still have...
Interested in this one - I have a TC that likes to pop out of high, it would be cool if this solved that. The current bungee-cord solution has lost its novelty........
