    Another Glow Plug/Solenoid/controller problem

It's usually preferred when converting to these trucks to 12-volt to do the Roscommon conversion (http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter.com/news_notes/nn10.pdf) since it is the most widely known. Just browsed through the instructions and there is no mention of replacing the GP relay. The only...

gen 2 light and volt meter not working

:ditto: There's actually two. One is the GEN2 relay, the other is the voltmeter relay. I can't remember the exact part #, but doesn't seem like they're hard to find. Those two are the same part number-wise. Jumpering the GEN2 relay (check the wiring diagram for the hot/ground wires) can tell you...

How exactly does the M1009 gun rack work?

Neither does an 870 with a 26" barrel. Just more reason for me to get a short barrel for it. :-D

Found a Cummins 5.9bt for sale

$1,000 seems pretty good for a 6BT. Out of curiosity, does it have the Bosch VE or P pump? As for transmissions, stick shift all the way :driver: The TH400's can be built up to handle quite a bit of oomph, but you could probably find a junkyard NV4500 for cheaper. After being offered a pretty...

    Ste-ice ?

:ditto: However, it is highly advised if converting to 12V to do the Roscommon conversion since it is the most widely known. The STE-ICE is kinda like the predecessor to the OBD-stuff. The truck will run fine without the STE-ICE system. There's a few guys on here that have the system to do a...

    CUCV IIs on the Market?

Oh yeah, from Wikipedia. Their words, not mine: "Chevrolet had been building a few CUCVs since the 1986 model year, mainly in low numbers to accommodate military markets that need replacements or other units that need this style of vehicle. In 1996 Chevrolet decided to start building a new...

    CUCV II specs

Apparently if you run the NSN from this through Google, it comes up as a M1008A1. ???? I thought that was the M1008 with the radio stuff in the back?

    CUCV IIs on the Market?

Doubt it. Even when I was over there a couple years ago, the Iraqi army was getting all our old, worn out HMMWV's. The Iraqi police were getting shiny, brand-spanking new Superdutys. I even heard about the Iraqi army getting Abrams tanks :cookoo:

    CUCV II specs

Just found this while messing around on Google. Not sure if anybody has this somewhere, but I know there are a few folks trying to get more info (TM's, etc.) on them.

    Gl Ft Bragg

Wouldn't surprise me. You look close enough, there's a tan CUCV in one of 'em. At least when I was there anyways. We really never had anything quite THAT old down in the 3rd BDE motorpool. I would go into specifics, but with OPSEC and all... As far as finding a milspec HMMWV, the Army never...

What are you paying for your CUCV tags

:ditto: But hey, that's Communois for ya... Can't remember exactly what I paid for mine in NC. About what most everybody else from there did. It definitely wasn't $200+ NC doesn't seem to care if it's 1 ton, just if you're going to be pulling a trailer or not. I always told them no. I also...

    She didn't start this morning

Just out of curiosity, what's the temp been like up there? I know the spin-on filter mod is popular and I know why guys do it, but it is not something I would recommend to folks living in colder climates (myself included) unless the stock base assembly is absolutely FUBAR. Like I said, most...

    She didn't start this morning

What's the temp been up there? Coldest it's been here so far, is something like 0 degrees even. Old girl has cranked every time. Then again it is my daily driver, so I usually don't leave it sitting for a couple days at a time. I've found that cycling the glow plugs twice can help if it's...

    M1009 Power Steering Belt Replacement

I've done mine at least 3 times. First time when I bought the truck, 2nd time when I was getting the truck ready for a close to 1,000 mile drive, and last time around August or so when I realized I picked up the wrong belts the 2nd time. The second time I couldn't even get the PS belt on. And...

M1009 wait light/glow plug card issue

Maybe not as great as a solargizer, but definitely cheaper would be an analog battery charger. Plus, you can use them to get rid of rust! Stovebolt Tech Tip -- Antique Chevy / GMC Truck Restoration Help

    Wierd light problem...

Go for it. Sounds like it could be a light switch. Sometimes bypassing relays, switches, etc. CAN (but not always) help you troubleshoot the problem. Get the voltmeter out. Are the parking lights getting power when they should? What about the dash lights? (the wiring diagram will help with this)...

    7 new glow plugs

When I redid my glow plugs a couple months ago, I had all of 3 or 4 that were working. The truck would still start and run (although it does much better now that I replaced them) A diesel engine only needs air, fuel and heat to start and run. The glow plugs just help out in the "heat" department...

    Wierd light problem...

Details, details, details... Attention to detail kids, because those little things can screw you. As much as I appreciated the advice, I did not follow it. Yeah, I know... but I was not willing to chalk this up to a bad ground. If my lights are working, that means 1. They're getting power 2...

    Wierd light problem...

Was wondering when one of the CUCV experts would post up, thanks for the advice! I had read a few posts during my search where inoperative lights were chalked up to bad grounds, but didn't figure that would be the case as the bulbs (well, most of the bulbs in my case) were working, just not in...

    Wierd light problem...

Alright, already did a search. Couldn't find anything other than lights not working period. Finally got around to replacing the passenger side rear turn signal today. I had known it hadn't been working for a while. Before that (and even when it wasn't working) all my other lights worked fine (to...
