I have a '67 JeepKaiser and no relay on my block. What you're describing sounds like a bad ground. I would disconnect the batteries and make sure you have all your grounds cleaned and attached - I believe there is a ground strap on the bellhousing adapter ring - did that get cleaned up and...
3 o-rings, 2 underneath the HH (you have to remove it to get to them) and one on the actuator shaft (where you were missing safety wire.) If you turn on the in-tank pump (but don't start the truck) you can watch the fuel drip out of the HH. That's good for a few minutes entertainment.

I pulled my injectors when doing the HG and found them sooty, but serviceable. The injector holes were clean and appeared good. An overnight soaking in chem dip (carb cleaner) removed all the soot and buildup.
That being said, my number one injector line rattled as well. Turned out the...
I finally got around to pulling my fuel filter cans yesterday in prep for new filters.
When I dropped them I found they had about 1/2" of sludge in the bottom, mixture of goo + rust flakes/chunks + sediment it looked like? I am going to line my cans with a gas tank liner, and will eventually...
Digging up an old thread: I have read through all the coolant filter threads I can find, and I cannot find any tricks for getting the pipe plug's out of the manifold and water pump housings. Mine are stuck, like Stuck, or maybe STUCK is more accurate.
PB blaster has done nothing, and I have...
My old style HG's leaked out down the side of the block, a semi-decent amount of oil. I tore everything down and did a head job on it - complete with new gaskets, only to see that the existing gaskers appeared to be just fine.
I would tighten down the head bolts and run it.
A'ight, to close this thread off: I finally got the air compressor off and took a look at it. It looked ruddy pristine. Clearly NOT the cause of my bits of shrapnel in the engine. I'm down to just parts that were left over in the engine and the hard driving shook them loose. I examined the...
Preview, preview, preview.
I did not, but got outrageously lucky. When I think about what I did (buy it sight-unseen from 650 miles away and drive out there with no way to get it home except driving it) I shudder inside, and remind myself to say 'thank you' in my prayers at night.
Never...
Reviving an old thread here (love the search):
Is there a trick to removing the fan? I have pulled the belts off the pulley (just in case), taken the 4 bolts out of the front and removed the snap-ring. Still the fan does not budge. I am nervous to get after it too hard as I don't want to...
Thanks - I'll just manuever them back into their slots.
The engine is not a rebuild - at least thats my assumption since there is no rebuild tag, and only the original installation plate on the block. These id plates have been wrong before though - so anything is possible.
I keep going back to junk leftover, but these issues are new ones that have surfaced since the last oil change.
I still have to remove the air compressor and check it. At this point I am leaning towards the fuel dilution in my oil caused my compressor to take a dump and lose parts into the...
Pulled the cylinder heads finally. The gaskets actually looked pretty good, there was some buildup in the water passages that caused the heads to push up a little, causing my leaks from the head. No visible damage anywhere, cylinders looks dirty but definitely good.
I do have 2 of the...
Further developments: I got the bottom end all buttoned back up and finally got everything stripped off the heads today. I pulled the pushrods, and found the below on rods between pistons 5 and 6. Looks like debris inside got bounced around maybe? Anyone ever seen anything like this? I haven't...
I just replaced mine last week. Boyce had them (new, not NOS) for ~$48. I bought from Memphis for $16 + shipping. Just installed it on saturday, weird 4 peice thing, but went on just fine.
I did NOT add any kind of sealant on there. These are enough of a PITA to get off without adding glue.
I installed this same pyrometer. I liked it because it was inexpensive, 24v, easy to install and gives a very readible figure. I installed pre-turbo in the back half of the exhaust manifold down-tube.
The downside to it (I think) is that it doesn't look very 'stock'.
