Wood has actually crossed my mind. Cheap but messy and you'd have to rig up some sort of flue.
On a side note, Rayzer's camper makes mine look like a homeless shelter. All I'm going to have is a semi-comfortable bed and a place to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Well I've almost got my S280 ready to go camping in. It's getting the time of year where I quit worrying about a/c and start focusing on heat.
What are people using to heat these shelters? I see a lot of options out there but had rather not gas myself while I'm closed up in there. I know I...
Personally, I'm not a big fan of synthetic straps. Sometimes they are needed to prevent damage but you have to be really careful about abrasion.
The lifting sligs you linked to will be fine as far as the DOT is concerned but how are you going to attach them?
Go by your local fire dept and ask...
Wow. What are you needing to measure that has 20K volts running through it?
When you get much more than 480v, you better be careful or you'll be the bug in a human bug zapper.
Now I do have a electric fence meter that will measure up to 10K volts but that's just for testing electric fences...
I've never hauled a HMMWV but I do know a bit about securing loads.
It's best to cross the chains if you can. If you can't for some reason, make sure you have the front chains pulling one direction, and the back pulling the other to keep it from moving front to back.
Looks like with the short...
Actually yes, you need to be a vendor to advertise your services and post in the vendor's forum. The "transportation needs" forum is more for people just helping people out on a non-profit basis. From the wording of your post, this seems like a for-profit venture.
Because this thread violates...
I don't see why it wouldn't work, you're just going to have to install a hyd pump and valving to run it.
A hyd winch should be a nice upgrade compared to a PTO winch.
I had to edit the Photobucket links out of your post. Per the site rules, links to image hosting sites aren't allowed. You need to post the pics directly to the site.
The reason for the rule is that people don't always keep up their image hosting site, links go dead, and then the pics are gone...
I'm running way behind schedule but I did get some work done on the shelter the last few days.
Got the lights hooked up
Added a standard 3 prong plug for power hook up.
Did some work on the beds. On the bottom bed, I've made a removable center section. The plan is to remove the center, have...
It was in the first sentence.
Here is the actual post (yes, us mods can still read it after it has been deleted).
"For everyone looking for wheels, I can make custom wheels for the 2 and 1/2 ton rockwell axles in my shop. I have customized cars ever since I was able to drive. I'm just now...
GL offered the bent driveshaft option for years before they lost the contract, sometimes they would even throw in a bonus of a busted t-case. I guess GP is now also offering the bent driveshaft option.
All joking aside, I have seen 100s of CUCVs sold through GL in years past. I might have seen...
Going back and looking, you did have a post deleted.
I didn't delete it but I can tell you the reason. It was a for sale ad in the forum.
We don't allow for sale ads in the forums. Ads are only allowed in the classifieds and you must be a premium member to post in the classifieds.
The "clunk" you hear is more than likely the clutch dogs contacting the dogs on the drum, your engagement lever doesn't seem to be working. Somebody more than likely has tried to force it and bent or broke something. The engagement lever doesn't like to be forced and can break fairly easy...
Mind you, I've never actually tried this myself but I've been told by several people that you can run a 12v winch on 24v without problems if you change the solenoids.
Do a search for "12v winch on 24v" and you should get some results.
What part was fabricated? I can't tell for sure in the pic.
Just going by the pic, it looks as if they just forgot to latch the ball or had mismatched ball/hitch size and no safety chains. Maybe they had a fabricated receiver hitch and they replaced it with something else to re-hitch?
You've also got 5kw of ac power already on board.
I suspect the reason he went with a dc motor is that's just what he had lying around. Nothing wrong with a 24v dc motor, you'd just pull a lot less amps on 120v.
I read the article and saw where the mentioned the hitch being modified. The hitch on the truck looks more than substantial (one of those combo pintle/ball hitches) but the hitch on the trailer looks small compared to the trailer tongue.
That's a pretty slick setup when you don't have other means to move it easily. :goodjob:
I have to ask though, why go with a DC motor and not a AC motor?
Sure, ad-blocking software does a great job at blocking ads, but it also blocks useful features of our website like our supporting vendors. Their ads help keep Steel Soldiers going. Please consider disabling your ad blockers for the site. Thanks!
