Interesting. The key that came with my truck unlocks the doors and starts the truck like its supposed to. The new key that I put on my key ring works fine in the ignition but won't unlock the door.
One key originally fit all of these trucks and the door key cut is the same as the ignition. I bought a bunch of extra keys already cut from eBay so I have plenty of extras just in case.
Not bad. Mine uses more than that with 32k on the odometer. If you think that's bad, my wife's Grand Prix GXP with the 5.3 Chevy V8 REALLY drinks it at a quart per 1000 miles. Those are notorious for oil use. I just see it as always having clean oil in it. ;)
Couldn't imagine that you could get it working well on one of these persnickety old non-computerized dinosaurs. I'd always have to walk outside to verify that it started and at that point what's the use of the remote start? Anyone desiring creature comforts should really be driving something...
The correct answer is no. Of course I put them on my 2500HD and theoretically I shouldn't have but they sure looked more at home than the 245s. The HD wheels were 6.5" wide and the tires were fine. I put 60,000 miles on them before selling the truck. They were only 33" tall and about 11.5" wide.
Thank you for making that statement. The OP's truck looks good with the route he took, but that's about as tall as you'd really want to go on a stock truck. It's a very common question about 37's on a stock height truck and that makes no sense to me.
Great point. Thanks for making me feel better about the route I took. Rides a little stiff when unloaded but I'm amazed at the loads it can carry with hardly any sag at all. That's exactly why I chose the truck in the first place. More capacity of the 8 foot box and high GVWR for firewood. My...
I don't understand what you mean by no longer being in compression either. I get what you mean about the frame brackets no longer contacting the top overload though. CUCVs don't use that setup but I wouldn't use a shackle flip either with those. Having to do a bunch of modifications just to use...
A little off topic but what is the reasoning behind using a gear reduction starter with a 24v system? I realize they draw less current, but if you have 2 batteries and 2 alternators it seems like you'd be golden with a fast cranking engine.
Kid, way back when I was looking for a wood hauler and thought about looking into a surplus Chevy, I found an old photo on the net of your truck in it's early stages with the XZL's on it and I was hooked. (see below) Sold my 2500HD and headed up north to pick up my 1008 and then joined this...
