Tommi,
I personally think the full time 4WD is great for mixed conditions such as where there is frequent pressence of snow and ice on the road. There's no fretting over whether or not you ought to put it in 4WD (as is the case with part time 4wd) because you are ALWAYS in 4wd. and you can...
I'm on the down hill side of a 440 swap into my M880 right now, and one other thing I've had to do in addition to what was listed above, was find the transmission kickdown linkage for the 440 in a truck. The motor I used originally came out of a station wagon, and the kick down linkage was...
"Underpowered" That seems to be a common complaint of the Commercial trucks used by the Army. That was my big beef with the 318 in the M880(rated at a woefully low 150 hp in the 1977 smog control year) which is why I am swapping in a 440.
I believe Alfaheaven is running humvee tires (36X12.50R16.5) on the stock M880 16.5X6.75 wheel, which in my opinion is WAY too narrow a wheel with those tires. You really ought to be running a 9.75" wide wheel with a bias ply tire that wide. Result will be that the tread will bulge out in the...
RE: Re: RE: Leaning toward buying M885, a few questions from
I love my M880 too. It would take a lot to get me to give it up. Cummins Diesel swap is in the back of my mind down the road, but right now, I'm in the process of swapping in a newly rebuilt 440! (Had to get the 440 727 tranny too...
Well, my passenger side B/O marker light and my driver side service turn and stop light are not working now. However I got the passenger side service stop and turn light to work! Seems like a bad connection problem. At least I know it's got turn and stop lights now. Now to just figure out...
Every m880 I have come across had a registration number that started with an "NG" or "NGO". Also, they all seem to consist of 6 characters, such as "NGOXXX".
Hi guys,
I need to replace a blown out tire on my M101A1 trailer, and I'm told they use the same wheels as the M37. I'm looking for a used but in good condition 9.00X16" tire and possibly the wheel (lug holes got buggered up a little). Anybody got a good used tire and maybe wheel they would...
Just looked up the cross reference numbers from the www.mvpc.com web site you listed. Bulbs that are currently in the rear lights are 1683, and 623. Looks like this crosses over to 1156 and 1073 respectively. Thanks for the tip on this. I'm assuming these are for equivalent wattage bulbs...
Thanks a lot CGarbee for the link.
when you said:
I'm not sure what you mean here. My M880 has the civilian taillights and separate B/O marker lights. Brakes illuminate on both modes, but turn signal only in normal running mode on the civy lights. Trailer has marker lights for normal and...
Question: Are the Black out lights supposed to have functioning turnsignals, or just brake lights? (This is a question for the tow vehicle as well as the trailer.)
On the 24 VDC to 12 VDC conversion, is this just as simple as taking the 24 VDC bulb out and going to the parts store to find a 12 VDC equivalent socket style? Do you know of a P/N for the 12 VDC bulb?
On the turn signals and lights, I think it might be an issue with the trailer plug on my...
Hello all,
I hooked up my trailer to the recepticle on my M880 tonight to see if the lights worked. The running lights work okay in black out mode and normal running mode, and the single brake light works in black out mode, but there seems to be no "brake on" illumination or turn signals in...
Yeah, I know what you mean. he posted on this board for a while but then kind of disapeared. He caused a ruckus over on Ramchargercentral about a year and a half ago, and kind of got run off by the folks over there. I don't know what to think of the guy. He's pissed a lot of people off by...
I've had my M880 for 8 years and only ocassionally lube them, and I've never had one fail. But then, I only put 3,000 - 5,000 miles on the truck per year, and the largest tires I've run until recently were 265/75R16. So maybe I haven't been abusing them too bad.
If this goes for anything close to the current bid (about $30) then it will be a good deal. If any of you need one, nows your chance (however, don't bid over $75, I bought mine elsewhere two years ago for that much.)...
I've never heard of this pattern scheme. What is the "MASSTER program"? Is this a cross between the NATO three color and the four color MERDC pattern? Have you got any better pictures of it on an M880?
