RE: Yep its a M101A1
Thanks Kenneth. I'll download that as soon as the "Technical Manuals" section is back up and running. it seems to not be working right now.
RE: Yep its a M101A1
Ah, I see. "Light poles" that must be what the funny socket like cylindrical brackets are up at the front of the trailer. By the way, do you happen to know what the lidded box is for up at the front of the bed on the driver side?
P.S. I was looking at the nameplate...
RE: Yep its a M101A1
Thanks for the good pointers guys. Unfortunately someone already snagged the tank a long time ago. I suspected that was where a fuel tank went, but wasn't sure why it was needed. The generator set makes sense. If I get rid of the filler neck and other misc. hardware...
Okay, I was able to upload soem pictures to a photo album. You can access it here:

P.S. I found the nameplate tonight (it was very faded) This is actually an M101A1 built in 1968. This seems to be using the same tires as the M37 as you all suggested. By the way, anybody know wher I can get new lug nut studs for these? The may be one or two that need replacing.
Well guys, I took some pictures, but I can't seem to get them to opload. Is there something wrong with the picture posting option? This is not the first time I've tried to post pictures and had it fail. :?
My M880 has the same big beefy gazillion pin trailer plug on it, so I'm thinking it will mate up just fine. Anyone know how heavy these trailers are empty? Any other identifying characteristics for these trailers that I can use to confirm that it is actually an M101 3/4 ton trailer?
Hi guys,
I'm going to pick up what I think is an M101 trailer (couldn't find the nameplate) tonight after work and was hoping you all could give me some quick pointers on it. Is this the smaller 3/4 ton trailer? It has the five lug wheels on it and has the leg instead of the wheel on the end...
I second what Kenneth has said here. It sounds like most of the 24 volt system has been removed from the truck. So if you really would like to install power steering, all you would have to do is remove the 24 volt alternator bracket and you'll have room for the power steering pump. The power...
I highly doubt it will work for his truck. The wiring was redone on the Dodge trucks in the `80's, and therefore the blackout wiring harness likely won't work for his truck. By the way, the description that was given for the "cat's eyes" may be accurate for other trucks, but not for the...
I can get anyone here that wants it a larger copy in TIFF or JPEG format. When I originally posted it, I resized it small in order to get it under the forum size limit. But I can send larger copies to individuals who want it.
What would you like to know? Are you looking for paint colors? A specific pattern? There are several of us here on this board that could help you with the pattern you are looking for, whether it be the current 3 color NATO pattern, or one of the older original seasonal 4 color MERDC patterns...
Agreed. The individuals who are probably the most qualified to speak about and most knowlegeable about the M880's are those who are enthusiasts, who have taken the time to research and study the details about the truck.
My plans are to eventually swap in a 6BT with NV4500 manual five speed transmission and Dana 60 front axle into my M880. The final package would be very similar to a `90-`93 Dodge W250 Cummins turbo Diesel, except I would go with the second generation Cummins motor with the more desirable...
Many times those who bash on the M880 are the most ignorant of the truck. The whole part time 2WD comment is a prime example of this. The military vehicle magazines need an article written preferably by someone who is an admirer of the truck, or at minimum objective and not prone to bias bashing.
I've seen fuel mileage ranging from 10 to 12 miles per gallon, with the upper end being on the freeway and the lower around town. My friend who drove a W200 club cab with a 440 saw 8-10 mpg respectively.
Hello Bob,
yep, the M715 pattern is what I used when I transferred it over to the M880. It is nearly identical to what was used on the M880's.
I've seen the M880's in Ghostbusters, but didn't know about the ones in heartbreak ridge. I'll have to keep an eye out for that movie to rent it...
Very nice work there Bob. This is the truck that was formerly painted red, isn't it? Did you use the pattern I transferred to paint that, or did you just copy the pattern from your other M882? Either way, it looks fantastic. By the way, whose paint did you decide to go with? Did you use the...
Good point there Elwenil. If the Army had bought a whole bunch of spare embossed logo tailgates and put them into inventory when they started the run, then they naturally might have many of these tailgates left even after Chrysler Corp. had run out of them and started putting the plain...
Let me offer a slightly different scenario,
It seems that the civilian Dodges made the switch from embossed logo to sticker logo starting in the 1975 model year. Since the M880's ran model years from 1975 through 1977, it seems that using the embossed logo tailgates was an intentional departure...
