This covers the brake master cylinder. Opening the panel will allow you access to put additional fluid in the master cylinder. You'll need access to it once insulated.
This is one of the cover plates for the transmission assembly. There are 3 (I think?). You take them all off when you...
Looks great gunner. I threw up a little in my mouth when the guy told me I owed him $100 for the 4 u-bolts.
I spent almost as much in u-bolts as I did to lengthen the d-shaft
Nice looking truck Karl!
All - when you change these types of filters out, do you find you have oil spillage all over during removal? My LC has an inverted spin-in filter, and when you unscrew it oil goes all over :(. Haven't done my deuce's oil change yet, so not sure how much spillage...
On a slightly related note: completed the move into the new house, kids LOVE all the room to run around and I put the deuce to work immediately after it was fixed. The back is all loaded up with the old flooring we ripped out and ready to go to the dump.
It was gratifying to see that the pile...
Success! So I owe Jon a HUGE thanks on 2 counts.
First for convincing me to NOT mess with the PP finger adjustments. Turns out they were accurate despite my efforts to convince myself otherwise. Fortunately I never made any tweaks.
Second he convinced me to post up pics of the bits 'n...
Tks Jon - that was the piece I was missing. Couldn't figure out if the adjustment was while installed or not.
The arm adjustment you referred to is 3.5" from bellhousing to center of hole the pin goes in. I did install and measure to that with no improvement. I will reinstall again (tomorrow...
I did some digging around on the site and found TM 9-2815-210-34-2-2, pg 543 which gives the correct adjustment for the fingers on a 3-finger pressure plate. It says that the fingers should be 2 5/32" from the pad where the T/O bearing rests to the pp face (where the clutch disk sits - from #2...
Yep, I did check to ensure it could spin while in gear outside of the truck. Tranny seems to function just fine.
EXACTLY the issue I am having. Output flange spins freely by hand while in neutral. Clutch depressed and no spin. If I get my weight on it and both hands I can turn it, but...
I need some help! I am lost on what my issue is. I received my disk alignment tool and new pilot bushing today, and reinstalled the tranny. It went in smooth and easily, literally a 10min job once I had it on the chain hoist so I am very confident it wasn't binding and there was no...
A'ight - quick update on this issue. I pulled the tranny again today (this time it took me a grand total of ~90mins from walking out to the driveway to the tranny sitting on the ground.)
As expected the pilot bushing is in pretty bad shape. Disk, PP and flywheel all look good. I did take a...
Are you talking the one on the top of the head, or the one on the side? For the nut on the top of the head mine did not have anything underneath it, although I have seen posts from folks I respect who have said it should have a copper washer underneath.
The one on the side (actually the fuel...
I get ~1.75" of downward movement from my pedal before it starts to move the lever on the trans. It does require some effort to push the pedal down that first 1.75", but it is very evident from feel when it begins to engage the clutch - it changes from effort to work.
Welcome to SS! I can't really help with your hauling issue, but I bought mine from UT and drove it to Sac, where it resides currently. I did tow it off the base, and then went through a full day's worth of maintenance and inspection. Definitely the correct way to do it.
Good luck with your...
I think that's the same one I had on my '67 Jeep Kaiser. There wasn't an actual leak in it, the adjuster nut on top just needed to be disassembled, cleaned/lubed and retightened. It was a 15min job. Previous to the work it wouldn't hold more than ~60lbs. Afterwards it went right up to 120lbs.
