    Safe crane operation

Lifting over the back, the boom will more than likely fail before you pull the front tires off the ground. Now the winch line may stall before this happens but I have seen buckled booms. That's also why you have to install the boom jacks for lifting heavy loads.

    Whats up with David Kelone

If you can find a pic and/or dimensions of the data plates you need, he can reproduce them.

    Whats up with David Kelone

Check with this guy - http://www.dataplates.net/ I haven't actually ordered from him but I have been in contact with him about some plates and I've heard good reviews from others that have ordered from him. He's pretty quick to respond to e-mails.

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

You'll know when they are fully caged, just turn the nut until you can't anymore. A 3/4" ratchet wrench works great for this, a extra deep well socket would be even better.

    Safe crane operation

While there may not be any "official" standard hand signals, the chart you posted is all I've ever seen in any manuals or warning stickers. There are a few abbreviated signals that you will see in the business but that chart pretty well covers it. The abbreviated signals are used when a flagman...

    Steel Soldiers Facebook Group

Robert, I'm with you. My friends have been trying to get me to join but I'm still holding out. With all my friends and family on it, pics of me are already posted all over there anyway.

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

Worm drives inherently don't want to spin backwards. They will if enough load is applied but that mostly is when you lift a heavy weight off the ground. I agree, back the brake off. It causes more problems than it solves.

    Winch drum not turning?

Once you have the winch laying in the floor, it's not very hard to disassemble. Getting it off the truck is the hard part.

    Winch drum not turning?

Since the winch has supposedly recently rebuilt, it could be just assembled wrong. It's been a while since I've been very deep into one but I seem to recall that it is possible to put the engagement fork backwards on the shaft. Maybe somebody else will chime in and confirm this.

    Winch drum not turning?

I've encountered two winches with twisted engagement lever shafts. It throws the detents off and the dog clutch won't work properly. The engagement lever is pretty fragile, never force it in or out. The shaft is relatively small compared to the leverage you can put out on the handle (especially...

I need help with 1942 Ford Script Jeep

I believe I would have left the peel on. What's under there looks really bad. If the rest of it looks as bad as what you can see, there won't be enough left to patch up.

    teledyn 4-032

Maybe so, I don't know. I do know the shop teacher was mad as heck wondering what happened. We hid the evidence pretty quick. Never have been tempted to put a impact on a small engine crank since though.

    teledyn 4-032

When I was in high school shop class, we were trying to get a small engine started and I had the idea of using a impact to turn it over faster. The hamer from the impact broke the crank. Shop teacher never could figure out what happened.

Deuce tail roller and bed winch, skid loading setup

No, I just haven't cut the ends off yet. I didn't know for sure where everything was going to fit so I made them long, figuring I'd cut them off when got it mounted. I'll cut them off and drill a cross hole for a pin to secure everything in place. Everything will come off except the brackets...

Deuce tail roller and bed winch, skid loading setup

Well after a Memorial Day cookout with the family, I finally got a little time this afternoon to work on the truck. I got the tail roller mounted and fabbed up the brackets that will hold the center support rollers. The center support brackets will be held at the top with a pin through the...

Deuce Winch Issue - grinding under load

You may not be engaging it all the way with the engagement lever. The shift shaft on these is known to twist (or break) and you can't engage the winch all the way. Have you forced the engagement lever in the past?

PTO seals leaking, replacement info needed

If your PTO output shaft is spinning with the PTO in neutral, you need to pull the PTO and find the problem. You're going to cause all sorts of problems if the PTO is spinning all the time.

    air assist

It does give a weird loose feeling at speed. A on/off switch is bound to help some but I'm not sure it will completely eliminate the loose feel. From my investigation of the problem, I found that some of it is the air assist trying to "fight" you but some of it is also the amount of slack in the...

Spelling software to prevent incorrect spelling of Cummins

That reminds me, a long time ago every time I would try and tell somebody where I lived, it would censor my location (Dickson,TN). I had to gripe to Mangus for a long time to get it fixed. That just goes to the point Drew is making.

Long time lurker finally got a Deuce

Carnac no longer can look up truck info. There is something else in the works so stay tuned.
